Why is this man frowning?

He sure looks pissed.

Could it be he's been busted for shuffling pedophile priests around while children continue to be abused?

It would be nice to see Ratzi fade off into the sunset.

8. My sentiments exactly. A question.
How do you tell friends and loved ones that you do not wish to attend another Catholic wedding, funeral, baptism, confirmation, or whatever. I get a little ill at those events. Have no prob sending a card or attending receptions.
Anyone?

9. easy, you say:
Dear friends and loved ones,

I do not wish to attend another Catholic wedding, funeral, baptism, confirmation, or whatever.

I get a little ill at those events.

However, I have no problem sending a card or attending receptions.

Yours Truly,

yankeepants

the truth works nicely.
or you could just keep sucking it up.
if you don't want to attend said events you will have to accept that there will be a price for that.

FWIW.

11. Hey thanks.
The price for attending is vomitting on the kneeler or having to apologize for yelling out "You Lie!" during the service.

12. I Actually Don't Mind Going To Religious Ceremonies for Friends and Family
Edited on Thu Mar-25-10 09:11 AM by Toasterlad
I was raised catholic, so there's still something comforting about the ritual of mass, empty though it may be. Also, I sang in the choir when I was a boy, and still enjoy the music (I always find it ironic that some of the most beautiful music in the world was written to celebrate what's basically a fairy tale). While I wouldn't waste my time attending mass on non-special occasions (and certainly would never contribute dime one to the church), I don't have a problem celebrating a friend or family's special occasion, even if it happens to be in a church. While I understand and support anyone's right to boycott anything religion-related, I can put aside my animosity for an hour or two to celebrate with friends and family.

13. I have opposite reaction
After 13 years of being forced to attend Catholic School and Catholic Services (even though I realized by the age of 7 that it was all a crock) and still attending many years of ceremonies after that for F & F, I find nothing comforting and indeed find it difficult to stifle eye rolling and audible sighs.

14. I Can Definitely Understand That.
There are still many times during a mass when I look around incredulously and have to stop myself from saying, "Are you people really BUYING this shit?"

16. That is exactly what I'm thinking
They have eyes closed, hands praying in the hope that if they do that just right they will go to heaven.

And they worship the pope, and they overlook the fact that women are inferior in the eyes of the lord according to the vatican.
