Today is the 4 year anniversary of "Mission Accomplished",when our president was quoted as saying "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended."We all remember his bravado in his flight suit,his smug proclamation backed by the brave crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln.Tell that to the families of 3,451 servicemen and women who have died since then.The average of our troops killed per week has gone from 6.3 per week to 15.2 per week.Weekly wounded unable to return to duty has risen from less than 30 to over 200 soldiers per week.I am dealing with this on a more personal level.My son was wounded both physically and mentally.The mental wounds go so much deeper,and are so much more difficult to heal.Is this our leader's idea of "Mission Accomplished"?Sending the same troops into warfare over and over again until they are broken physically and mentally?Using our servicemen to assure that the top 1% make their huge profits off the oil of Iraq...I point you to Exxon-Mobil,Lockheed,and Halliburton-all war profiteers profiting off our soldiers' blood.Do you still support these actions?Are your children in harm's way over there?If not,I want you to imagine watching the news nightly,wondering if your son is alive or dead,hearing of the enormous profits that Lee Raymond,Dick and Lynne Cheney and others have earned,and tell yourself it is a noble cause.The war doesn't end when these kids come home,folks.We need to get out now.
