There is rumbling and disquiet in my personal Freeperland - - - a couple of tiny observations
People I work for (get orders from), a few of them so long standingly angry at my openly displayed and discussed politics that they stopped giving me orders and frequent my freeper minded competition,

so rabid that they accidentally copied me on a mass email after 1-20-09 that had the word "in-nigger-ation" in it
(my "reply all" response took an hour to hone to my personal satisfaction)

those people have stopped talking about anything political, my mole tells me. They are hanging back and punting.
They are speechless even amongst themselves.

And her freeper husband, she tells me, has made a very uncharacteristic comment:
"Maybe after this our health care bills will go down."

I think self - destruction is in the budding, another sign of spring time around us.

We need to stay strong, and take absolutely no crap from these people.
Then they'll start to really respect us.

It's when we show the strength our mandates have given us, then it will be the start of some co-operation just for the sake of survival, if not in spirit.

We know what cornered "animals" do. They throw bricks, they cut a gas line, they break stuff, make vile threats, yell "hell no you can't" and put a coffin where your "wife lives and your children come to play".

But if you come at them with undaunted power, they'll come out and co-operate at least enough to not be crushed.
I think our President knows that.

Onward and Upward.

1. Thanks for this post and news..
Little by little they managed to tear themselves apart. It's like the madness if fading for some or fear of government retaliation is another. Their erratic and dangerous behavior is getting negative publicity and now they are lumped in with the far lefties they so hated----and shown just as destructive. In any event, this is good to hear that they're getting a clue.

4. Unfortunately, where I live, their name is legion.
Yet the good thing is they are retreating for now.
And hello to you Mimi, it's been a while!!!
I have your beautiful painting of Obama framed in my line of vision right now.

5. "Maybe after this our health care bills will go down."
This is the crazy part. You've got millions of people in this country who are so confused, ignorant and misled that they're now violently opposed to legislation that's obviously going to help them--not because of what's in it (they don't actually know what's in it--not a clue) but because of the source. Did they rise up to defend America against creeping socialism (or whatever) when Bush rammed his huge, budget-busting drug entitlement through? Of course not.

6. I am glad to hear this.

I am thinking about all of these vile sounding and threatened people, and trying to put a percent on how many of them represent an actual threat to society.

My guess is that some simply don't agree with my world view at all, but have no desire to be violent about it. I think a small percentage, maybe 10-20% are freaking unstable, have deep seated views that they will attempt to force on the rest of us through the use of violence. And I think that the rest have been caught up and whipped up by the mob mentality pushing celebrities who are lining their pockets with donations and republican politicians who are desperately seeking relection by encouraging them to be fearful of losing everything they value.

The last group, which is probably the majority of them, will likely settle back down once it is apparent that they are not being threatened in the way that the Palin/Beck/Limbagh/Boehner/etc folks have been peddling.

In the past, both dh and I have engaged in conversations with some of opposing viewpoints, in an effort to debunk falsehoods and try to rachet down the fear factor and rhetoric, with some limited success. My problem is that right now, I can't tell the ones who will ultimately respond to reason from those who will merely take what we say and be so disturbed as to make us a target. Those are the people who worry me - they might be only 10-20% of this group, but history tells me that even just a handful of disturbed individuals can cause alot of damage, injury and death.

I am going to stand up to these people who oppose what I believe in, but am trying to figure out how to do that but not be exposed to life threatening risk from the ones who only wish to cause harm and mayhem. Maybe time will help sort this out.

7. My mother,
who is a diehard O'Reilly/Fox News fan, said to me the other night - well, maybe this health care bill isn't so bad. And I know she's appalled at the violence; I think it's making her re-think the crowd she's "running" with.

The teabaggers are destroying their own movement.
