So y'all were on the boards the day I got laid off due to lack of work right? Through me for a loop and a minor breakdown. In my fog of despair I was on the boards applying for jobs that very day.
Well I saw a posting for a job that matches my resume....EXACTLY for the same company that terminated me for lack of work.
Hummm I thought, what should I do?
WEll I applied for that fucker.
I just had the first phone interview. She seemed to be pleasantly shocked that I was terminated with experience like mine.
She's taking it to her management to see what she can do. Now she works in part of the company that my little rouge group reports to.
Hummmm
Que Jeopardy music. I'll keep y'all posted.

I had over 10 years of experience with a particular ERP in all implementation phases. Really not to toot my own horn, I kick ass. Just the facts there nothing over blown.
Which means he didn't do his job.
I see it that ultimately they won't move forward on me but it does make my old boss look bad. I feel bad for that but oh freaking well.
I'm good @ what I do. I gave the heads up on so much shit that came down the path that really saved our bacon. It was clear that if anyone had asked I functioned in a capacity way higher than what my role was originally called for. Unfortunately that really didn't get attention.
I got a huge bonus, so I don't think they didn't like me or that I sucked. I just think my boss didn't do his job and he is getting busted for it for letting someone with my experience level scoot.
After what they did to me I don't think I could go back anyway. But playing this out is making me feel really warm and cozy inside.

JUST IN CASE it turns out that the opening is suddenly "withdrawn," and particularly if you get any static from your state Employment Division about processing your application for unemployment benefits. I'm not saying that the rat bastards nice people who fired you might in any way be breaking about three laws that I can think of off the top of my head, but if they are, it would be really nice to have full documentation of the circumstances of your layoff, the posting of the new opening, and how the company treats your re-application.

But her last few months were in Home Hospice which was very nice for her and us. She was never in pain and she was very well taken care of. She died quietly and gently. It was a blessing that she was so well taken care of. Home Hospice was completely covered my Medicare. Having her be at home for the last months of her life was more than worth it in her life and in ours.

at least at my company. I always get kicked in the teeth, probably because i don;t go about it the "right" way. They had the fucking balls to tell me i don't show enough initiate at my last evaluation. Thing is because of what i do, I kind of have them by the balls. I can strike out on my own, or i can demand a better contract when my current one is up in 3 months. I'm in an interesting position.
I'm so very sorry for the OP tho.
what companies do to us is utter shit!
They demand loyalty, give none in return, and act SHOCKED I tell you, when you aren't' happy.
I fucking hate mega corps, i really do.
But i enjoy my work, so I'll probably stay.

Maybe it was just a failure to communicate within the company. Sometimes one manager or VP doesn't know what another manager or VP is doing if they're in different departments or on different projects.
This all sounds like Fate to me--I bet you'll get the job and will like it even more than the last one!

Seriously? They screwed you over that blatantly? Isn't that something you can take up with your state's Dept. of Labor or something?
Edit: Looking over the thread, looks like I'm not the only one who thinks this reeks of illegal firing on the part of your (former) employer.

Sure they shouldn't have lied about there being no work when clearly there is, but I think that would be hard to prove. I think that was the bullshit excuse my old company used all the time when they wanted to get rid of the "higher" paid people like me (which is such a laugh considering I was on the lowest end of every salary survey for my job title) and hire people for even less.

Rhetorical questions because they're none of my business: are you close to retirement age? Special vacation benefits or something because of your length of service? Could the boss have a bimbo/bimber or relative they want in the position?
You know best, but I think you're being kind by merely assuming your boss is stupid - I think they were pulling a fast one & now are afraid they'll get sued. Maybe the worry will give them the running trots for a week or so:)
Best wishes for a great new job.
