So how do we get Michelle Bachmann arrested for inciting violence with
waving that banner on the balcony of the capitol? Cindy Sheehan was arrested last weekend for shouting "arrest that war criminal" while pointing at the White House. http://articles.sfgate.com/2010-03-20/news/18841455_1_white-house-cindy-sheehan-rally-and-march Now, I'm not approving of Cindy's actions here but pointing out an instance of unfair application of the law depending on whom is committing the treasonous act.

It seems to me that inciting the tea party crowd to violence like Michelle Backmann and other Repug Congressmen did this week also deserves arrests for stirring up a mob particularly since that "Don't Tread On Me" banner from the revolutionary war times has been adopted by many White Supremacist movements. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2010/03/20/2234578.aspx

I think a weekend in jail for Michelle and company, because they are such good Christians, would be a place for them to reflect on their religion on one of the holiest weekends in Christianity. Maybe cooling their heels in the slammer over Easter weekend will give them the opportunity to think about why Jesus Christ died on that cross. He died for championing the underdog and the downtrodden. Jesus would have been behind getting health care to everyone.

1. Given the violence that has already occurred
members of Congress who have egged on the violent right need to be censured, at the very least. To fail to do so is to make Democrats look weak, and we can't afford that.

2. Some have spoken up, but I think President Obama, himself, needs
to address this personally. At the very least Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid should speak up.

12. Don't bother they will ignore you won't even send an auto email back
you have to give bachmann's life history and every single word and picture you have or they won't accept it. But if enough people could overwhelm the FBI email system they might listen to something.

6. Oh, GAWD no - not on Good Friday!
Can you imagine the Messianic complex that being 'buried' in jail on Good Friday and 'resurrected' a couple days later would engender? They're insufferable nutcases as it is; they'd be fizzing with rabies if Michelle Bachmann rose from 'the tombs.'

15. That won't matter to the rapture-ready crowd
They'd probably say that gawd was resting on Sunday, yunno, so it took awhile before getting around to springing ol' Crazy Eyes.

9. Come on now
Sheehan didn't really get arrested just for shouting and pointing at the White House, did she?

And how do you get Bachmann arrested for waving a banner? Make it a crime.

10. I believe Bachmann is putting her fellow Congressmen, Senators and the Prez in danger..
That could be construed as treason, but it will take the will of law enforcement to not look the other way. As for Sheehan, read the news reports. I put a link to one of them on my OP, but read others and none of them say she did otherwise.

22. One's opinion
of treason is not enough to be charged with treason. Sorry.

And is this possibly related to your story about sheehans arrest?

Not saying it is, but I don't believe she was arrested just for pointing.

26. For crossing some barrier
And seeing how she was surprised only 7 were willing to follow her, I would guess they knew they were not supposed to cross it. I also doubt she would have been arrested if she had stayed behind the barrier and just held a banner saying "don't hold us back."

Sympathy for a cause does not excuse justice.
Contempt for a cause does not deny justice.

13. Your link doesn't specify what Sheehan was arrested for, but I seriously doubt it was "treason".
I hardly think anyone will ever be arrested for waving a Don't Tread On Me" banner, for what it's worth.

20. I agree
Maybe a 3 year might construe it as a crime. Anyone above the age of puberty would just think it was foolish.

they understand history well, so there is no excuse for letting them get away with it.

17. Unfortunately, there will be a tragedy before anything is done about this.
Remember how they arrested people for looking cross eyed outside the Republican Convention? They claimed it was pre-emptive to avoid civil unrest. I think these people should be arrested for promoting violence. I don't care if they are Congressional Representatives.

21. There was no speech in Congress under the rules.
It was a blatant show of defiance of their country's lawmakers' attempt to make a law according to the parliamentary rules and the Constitution. It was an act of anarchy and frankly, I believe a shot across the bow that many of these low IQ morons are actually thinking about a civil war.

24. Waving of the banner by Republican punks from Capitol was inciting to riot. There was nothing in
that message that proclaimed a position or an argument. It just urged violent action. This seems to me to be deserving of an inciting to riot charge.

29. I don't think DU has any say over the ads which seem to be random.
They probably target political ads for a political board even if they are from the other camp. If you contribute a little money and get a gold star, you can block them.
