I think the enthusiasm of supporters of the Health Act will outmatch the protests of opponents |
|
Voters identify with success, and the passage of this Act is an undeniable success; both societal and political. I'm looking at the enthusiasm of the Iowa crowd as the President is touting his victory and I can see that magnifying into increased support for our Democrats around the country, despite the hysterical extremes threatened by the republican opposition.
I hope our party can take advantage of that support in the coming months.

1. Dems never miss a chance. |

I'll admit, they seem to be off to a good start.
But as they saying goes, democrats never miss a chance to miss a chance.
The GOP will blame every shortcoming of everything on the Health Insurance Reform Bill.

2. the republicans have come to the end of their rope |

the President is determined to call their bluff. They're reduced to claiming credit for things in the bill that, if they had their way, wouldn't have seen the light of day by their vote.

4. They're rarely sincere. Most of their amendments are just obstruction |

For better or worse, this is a Democratic Act.

There was a republican just recently talking about 'insurance companies being the problem' and 'wanting to work for REAL reform'. It's a lie of course, but a seductive one nonetheless.

Although I'd expect for the momentum to be behind 'anti' voters, it looks like we could benefit from Democrats defending perceived (or realized) gains due to this and other measures advanced. The noise from these violent republican reactions has the potential to heighten that defense of our party by voters in November - and it may serve to drown out any other appeal from the republican opposition. Work to do, best regards.
