How much better would America be had the 2000 election not been stolen? |
|
In my opinion we would be back on track to a leadership position in the world. We have a long way to go.

2. you jest with such a question. Not only would we not have |
|
the destruction, we would have made progress as 21st century citizens. Rather than struggling with massive debt, failing infrastructure, and all the rest of the ruin of the past decade, we could a green society with cooperation with more people of the world. Not utopian, but not this desperate struggle to stop the back slide.
The pain of it sometimes overwhelms me and it is hard to get past the sadness.

Guiliani would have nothing if the 9/11 attacks had been prevented, and Republicans almost never give general election losers a second chance. It probably would've been McCain as the candidate in 2004.

9. The whole world would be different now. |
|
1. I don't believe the 9/11 attacks would have been successful.
2. I don't believe we would be engaged in two protracted wars, wasting our talented youth and destroying our reputation among allies.
3. We would not have the most conservative Supreme Court in a century.
4. The housing bubble and mortgage meltdown would have been mitigated.
5. The rancorous tone of the political landscape would not be nearly as elevated.
Hell, 3 and 4 could have been prevented if we had booted the Shrub in 2004!

11. Lets put it this way, Bush/Cheney almost totally destroyed America with their |
|
8 years of wars/stealing/lying/cheating etc. As a mater of fact I would go as far to say that they did immense damage to the world as a whole.

12. Sucked into the "dark flow" |
|
Maybe what happened in 2000 was our reality was sucked into some mysterious dark flow, as is apparently happening at the edge of the universe. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8016892It sure has sucked a lot since 2000.

13. We had too many voters then who bought into the lie that there were no differences between |
|
Democrats and Republicans.
Does anyone really believe that Gore would have done the same things that Bush did? That he would have appointed the same kind of people to the Supreme Court? Now we all have had to live through the history of their misguided choices.

18. Oh my God, things would be totally different. |
|
9/11 would probably not have happened. We would be well on the way to being energy independent. Global warming would be addressed and the environment would be healing. We would not be in two illegal and immoral wars and there would be a very small deficit, if there was one at all.
We would have universal healthcare, probably single-payer, in the country. More than 450,000 Americans would not be dead from lack of healthcare.
I could go on and on but I'm getting depressed.

25. The scary thing about that scenario |
|
is that LIEberman would've been Vice President. What if he were the 2008 nominee? Then we'd have an (alleged) Democrat taking us down the same road of ruin that Bush/Cheney did, just a few years later.
