Barbara Boxer mentioned that long-term care is part of the plan
Edited on Thu Mar-25-10 04:09 PM by CountAllVotes
does anyone happen to know specifics re: this?

I had the chance to buy long-term care 15 years ago but did not do it being the cost was so high. Now it is even higher and there is talk about it becoming insolvent without a 100% increase in the cost.

I am still interested in buying long-term care as there is a strong chance I may need it.

I also know of others (like my late mother's best friend who is in her 90's) who is depending greatly on her daughters to care for her. They both have jobs (the daughters that is) and they aren't really qualified to administer many of the medical procedures she needs. They have no lives of their own as they spend all of their time working in shifts to care for their mother who is in very rough shape.

Help if you happen to know.

Thank you.

1. We're ALL in this position, in fact.
so baby care, after school care, and long term care mean that care providers are and will become a HUGE part of our lives and economy, forever.

and yes the need is very real.

It makes me both sad and sick to think that old people's kids are caring for them and doing things that licensed physicians should be doing.

The problem is that the money isn't there for it in most cases.

You are so right - this is not just about me or my late mother's friend, it is about everyone in America. You never know when your time for the need for long-term care may occur.

2. Some companies have developed products that
include a whole or partial refund if you end up not tapping it.

5. California
where people that don't live here don't understand why we voted for Prop. 13!

Everything and I mean everything is very expensive. The long-term care was $100.00 a month at that time. God only knows what it is now!
