Republicans are playing the "Both Sides" card
Yeah, if I can find one instance of a Republican getting a lousy profanity laced phone call or a bullet fired in the air randomly hitting a window in a building where a campaign office is located, those are the equivalent of actual death threats to Democratic Congresspersons, their families, not to mention white powder, and gas lines being cut.

The "Both Sides" card is a disgusting ploy by these fuckers.

1. It's actually a dangerous talking point
It makes the right wing crazies feel justified. Very dangerous.

8. They are fanning the flames
There are surely some teabaggers holding back who wont if they start to believe that "the other side is doing it too".

It's one thing to not take up Pawlenty's invitation to "smash the windows out of big government" if you think it's only your side who's doing it. It's another thing if you think the "other side" is doing it.

So rather than deescalate the situation, they are choosing to fan the flames instead. Apparently they've given up on this democracy thing and started using the NAZI's playbook to regain power.

10. Agreed...
And there's more than a little bit of antisemitism and racism in their window smashing (a Chrystal Night event) and their rhetoric (Senator Demint's "...it will break him" assertion).

4. media - wild-eyed wonder at all things Republican, steely-eyed skepticism at all things
Democratic. Anything a Republican says is accepted at face value.

6. The Orwellian double-standard of a Totalitarian nation.
In America's case, an Inverted Totalitarian nation.

Watching the swift success of the RW Lie Machine/Corporate M$M fusion turn this into a he-said/she-said "both sides are doing it" just makes me realize that we are going where the RW Authoritarians are taking us. The truth cannot stand a chance against them.

The best we can hope for now is that the American Corporatists don't lose control of the demons they have awakened, like their 1930s German Industrialist forebears.

Although, the German Industrialists did pretty well under Hitler, so maybe our American Corporatists wouldn't mind if they had to play second-fiddle to Corn-Pone Hitler, when he comes along.

3. It's a completely bogus talking point.
Your basic false-equivalency fallacy.

The truth is that incidents of right-wing violence are a hundred times more numerous than incidents of left-wing violence in the U.S.

5. Because they can't admit they are wrong...
This is what they do all the time. The party of no and the party of "personal responsibility" have become the party of no personal responsibility. Anything that happens can either be blamed on the Democrats or is ok because they did it first. I can't believe we actually elect people who's mindest includes "but he did it first".

7. So predictable. "we don't have to disavow the actions of our crazy base"
because "I know you are but what am I?" and "why do you make me beat you?"
