How did Cantor lie about shooting at his office
I have been at work and have been away from the teevee. All I have read are AP articles which state that the police were able to confirm his story that his office was shot at. Has there been new information released. Sorry for yet another thread on the subject.

1. It was a random bullet fired on a vertical trajectory that came down through his window
It didn't even penetrate the blinds and rolled onto the floor. The way Cantor described the incident was very deceptive.

6. I don't believe the police report states that the window was his office.
Only that his office was in the same building where it occurred.

7. OK, I Understand That, But Still...
the fact that it was a random bullet was only established by police. I don't necessarily blame Cantor for not knowing that at first. Did his depiction of the shooting depart from the facts?

12. The description of the shooting was technically true, but...
Cantor was really stretching the facts to say that he had been "personally targeted".

8. He said it was a direct attack on him and he was
playing the victim card to the hilt.

<snip>

"I've received threats since I assumed elected office -- not only because of my position, but also because I'm Jewish. I've never blamed anyone in this body for that.

"Just recently I have been directly threatened: A bullet was shot through the window of my campaign office in Richmond this week."

"The problem is, what Cantor told reporters wasn't true. When he said he was "directly threatened," Cantor was either shamelessly, blatantly lying, or he was popping off to the press about politically-motivated violence without getting his facts straight."

4. Like an idiot I just saw Magistrates post after I posted
I should have just done a search. But sometimes the DU search can turn into a real wasteland.

3. Read the police report and TPM
it was a stray bullet that had been fired up in the air and fell with the force to break through the glass and NOT his shades, and that the glass may have been for the office of a consultant and not HIS office.

Fabricated bullshit. Someone in Richmond (perish the thought of lawless people in Richmond) fired a bullet in the air and it landed on his BUILDING by accident.

9. I hope he did lie
I Reps are starting to get really evil, there's the barely sane Palin and Beck talking about wanting to kill people (I can already imagine grainy cameraphone footage of Glenn Beck airing on CNN after he's wrestled down during a sniper raid attempt), there's right-wing NRA nuts talking about throwing bricks through windows and bring more guns to rallies. If he lied and it actually didn't happen then that's a good thing, there's plenty of violence in the world as is.

11. He exaggerated.
His building was shot, it seems, but not shot at as far as I can tell.
