3. Privatization?
Seems like the direction this White House is headed. Probably want us all to buy annuities from the private market.

6. Technical term is "guesses"
We got the Dole/Baker healthcare reform with him bragging he had "rejected" progressive ideas. I'm wondering what his plans for social security is.

5. The income cap on FICA taxes
If it was phased out (currently only your first $106,000 is taxed), the lifeline of SS would be extended indefinitely.

8. No taxes on those under 250K
We do remember that right? I'd really prefer FICA on the money OVER 250K. Truth is, so much compensation out there is being paid as capital gains, we should find a way to get FICA money on that.

17. I know
It'll end soon. HCR is over. Presuming it doesn't get worse, we'll be on to new arguments. I can easily find myself on the "other side" of them soon. Like I say, I'm actually curious where they plan on going.

7. As of this year, more is going out than coming in
We need to raise the social security part of FICA like we just did with the Medicare part.

16. True but that is the slickness Obama has.
The pubs might not notice when applied to SS.

How about a link to the correction?

And if that isn't Obama-hate, I don't know what is.

23. Yes, more is going out than coming in
The confusion has developed because it is true that this year, for the first time, because 8,000,000 jobs have been lost, the fund will pay out more money in benefits than it will receive in payroll taxes. However, because Social Security gains interest income from Treasury bonds, total receipts are still larger than payments.

Still, the negative receipts/benefits balance came six years earlier than previously predicted, which does not bode well for the long-term health of the system.

I didn't say it was bankrupt, I said more was going out than coming in, and that is true.

2. You mean get it OUT of the general fund and back into practice
as a pay as you go old age insurance? Hell, I'm all for that.

It's the perfect time to do it. There are no overpayments for Congress to rob this year, thanks to massive GOP unemployment.

24. You mean privatize it as they have health insurance?
That was supposed to be Bush's job, but by the time he got round to it after getting their wars started, and privatizing funds which normally would go to the military, he had lost his political capital.

I have no doubt Social Security is on the 'Privatization List' and even less doubt that people here will cheer for every dollar handed over to private business.

Let's hope that the American people will react to Democrats trying to do it, the same way they did to Bush's efforts.

Btw, this OP is a joke, right?
