Immigration rally ends with rubber bullets being fired by LAPD
Edited on Tue May-01-07 10:44 PM by Bluebear
'In Los Angeles, California, police in riot gear fired rubber bullets to disperse a crowd at MacArthur Park at the end of a day of peaceful rallies at the park and at City Hall. Witnesses said police gave no warning before moving in around 6 p.m.'

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/01/immigration.protests/index.html

CNN showing footage, the police are firing rubber bullets at the Hispanic people who appear to be walking away calmly from them, threatening people (even kids) with nightsticks because they are not "dispersing" from the immigration rally.

It's daylight in the park, nothing looks out of control. Why do people have to leave? Why are the police doing this???

2. Because LAPD are a bunch of racist dicks. They always have
been. As long as the people of the affluent areas like Bel-Air, Pacific Palisades, Westwood, Brentwood and other affluent neighborhoods tolerate this in their police department nothing is going to change. I lived in Santa Monica for thirty years and left fifteen years ago and nothing has changed the whole time with the LAPD because of this.

3. The LAPD seems to have most of these problems.
The reputation of the LAPD ruins the ruputation of law abiding and enforcing officers in the rest of the U.S.

4. plastic bottles
Some protestors were throwing their plastic water bottles at the police ( a very few). Does this warrant rubber bullets and tear gas.?

5. They used the national guard to stiffle protest with the deaths of 4
and the wounding of 12 in my time.

This demonstration today was not about immigration
it was about globalization and corporatization
of our lives and this planet.

Only action in front of fascism
will confront the bullies,
if it is against water cannons,
rubber bullets, tear gas, gauntlets of billy clubs or rubber bullets.

We know the order was given to fire.
Massive peaceful protest has always been
challenged by force, when the powers are
really challenged.
