Local Radio Host Suspended One Day For Questioning Beck's Sanity

ASHEVILLE — A local radio show host was suspended after questioning the sanity of the popular syndicated radio and television political personality Glenn Beck.

Matt Mittan, host of the show “Take A Stand” on WWNC 570-AM, was taken off the air Thursday after a Wednesday show in which he made “inflammatory remarks about another host,” said program director Brian Hall.

“He's been suspended for 24 hours … he's had his hand slapped,” Hall said.

Transcripts or podcasts of the comment were not available on the station's Web site, but a podcast that began shortly after Mittan's initial remarks was.

“I've never attacked Glenn Beck. I voiced concern about his mental stability based on what I heard on a show this morning and what I see as a deterioration of his cognitive capacity over the last few weeks or the last couple of months,” he said.

Mittan could not be reached for comment. Co-host Agnes Cheek responded to a Facebook message saying the omission of the podcast with the comment was unintentional.

E-mails and calls made to numbers and addresses on “The Glenn Beck Program” Web site were not returned Thursday evening.

Mittan is a right-leaning "independent". Strangely, no pod-cast or transcript are available.

4. RW radio station afraid to let anyone stray from the right wing mob mentality
Mittan dared to be reasonable and moderate and rational but unfortunately that is not allowed by the current conservative teapparty extremists who run and support this radio station that used to be a beacon for moderation and common sense before 2000.

8. Yeah, I have listened to Mittan, he is no rabid repug.
He has always been reasonable. His views on taxes are really the only overt repub stances he takes.

5. I believe that Glenn Beck is in mental trouble. I think people will hear more
about his mental health.

Over the years Beck has become less an less stable. I'm sure if he wasn't making money off his illness his family woul get him some help.

10. Yeah, if only more people WERE concerned about Beck's mental stability.
It's almost as if he's trapped. Like the old joke about the guy who thinks he's a chicken, but his wife postponed taking him to the psychiatrist because "We needed the eggs." Right now, Glenn's unhinged histrionics are still profitable enough for someone (even with him losing sponsors by the day) that no one dares take him off the air and get him some help, because it would kill the golden goose. It's really unfair to him. His insanity is being exploited for the profit of others.

15. Either Beck is mentally unstable, or he acts it well
I really wouldn't have thought it was a controversial statement in any way.
