CNN is having a Full-on Fascist Friday - pushing Cantor's lie and spinning polls against Obama.
Edited on Fri Mar-26-10 09:27 AM by blm
I know CNN was bad yesterday, but, so far today they have pushed Cantor's story with absolutely no questioning of the details, and doing so WITHOUT noting ANY of the dozen VERIFIED incidents against Dems.

They then tried to make Dems speaking out about the violence look like they were merely trying to score political points.

To top it off, they are madly spinning some poll claiming that most Americans won't vote for Obama in 2012.

CNN's Fascist agenda should be apparent to any news observer by now.

Shouldn't be too long before we hear CNN's new promotional theme:

Fascist Friday - It's not JUST for CSpan, anymore.

1. I'm glad you guys watch them now so I can't and
wouldn't if I could now.

It sounds like nothing has changed but I do like reading the threads on the corporative TV news media.
and then remember my outrage and blood pressure.

I do watch the BBC though

3. And by now they should know there was no real attack on Cantor!
I saw them presenting their ridiculous poll of a 47/47 Obama vs. unnamed Repuke in 2012. Any poll regarding the presidential election of 2012 is premature. And then it was Rove commenting on it! Real objectivity there! :sarcasm:

4. Today has been one of CNN's most blatant displays - and I've seen MANY fascist displays since they
set up Ted Turner for a takeover.

5. Not only premature
Get back to me when they actually put a name in there. Unnamed republican is a stupid way to do a poll. Who's going to beat him? Mitt "health care reform is only good when I do it" Romney, Sarah "too stupid to breath" Palin, etc. They've got nobody.

Lawmaker's office struck by 'random gunfire'
Posted: March 26th, 2010 10:00 AM ET
(CNN) - A bullet that landed in the office of House Minority Whip Eric Cantor was the result of "random gunfire," police in Richmond, Virginia said Friday.

Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House of Representatives, told reporters Thursday that a bullet was shot through a window at his campaign office in Richmond, Virginia. He also said he had received threatening messages.

In a news release Thursday, police said the bullet struck at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday. The preliminary investigation showed that "a bullet was fired into the air and struck the window in a downward direction, landing on the floor about a foot from the window. The round struck with enough force to break the windowpane but did not penetrate the window blinds. There was no other damage to the room, which is used occasionally for meetings by the congressman."

The building, which has several tenants including an office used by Cantor, was unoccupied at the time, the news release said.

it does have its good purposes. She is much wiser about how headlines are written and which point of view is being protected. After a while its not subtle at all and she is amazed at how different she views the information that is fed us.

We also watch CBC and the stark contest is truly shocking. They have adults that report the news and don't jump up and down or mewl or whine and go breathless with excitement when some horrific news happens.

This is why I refuse to watch cable news. If I wanted to watch politics 24/7 I would watch cspan.

19. Okay, is this true or is it your own spin?
Edited on Fri Mar-26-10 01:10 PM by WeekendWarrior
I'm not saying that CNN is a great and wonderful place, but I can't tell you how many times I've been to this board and heard people screaming about CNN or MSNBC about how anti-Dem they're being, about them pushing propaganda, only to see the news segment myself and think, "WTF? That wasn't nearly as bad as the guy on DU made it out to be."

Sometimes I think we approach news coverage with a preconceived notion that it's going to be spun against us. So we see what we expected to see, whether or not it actually exists.

This may not be true in this case, but I've been burned so many times by some of these kinds of posts here that I've decided not to pass judgment anymore until I've seen the segment myself.

And I've watched a lot of CNN, and saying they have a Fascist agenda seems a bit over the top.

I think the worst you can say is that ALL of the cable news networks try to find controversy where ever they can, because it sells ad space. That pretty much makes them whores, but not necessarily for one party.

Edited on Fri Mar-26-10 03:36 PM by blm
I know I gave them an earful.

Cantor's version of the story was debunked YESTERDAY - CNN had no business replaying his version and reporting it as a major news story all morning today.

27. If they try to find controversy whereever they can, then where was
that effort during the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq? There were millions of people in the streets, and all we could get from CNN was Cheney-Bush-Rumsfeld propaganda.

29. Not true
They covered. I saw the segments.

Now, granted, they didn't cover it as much as they could have, but it was there. In fact, this is the perfect example of what I'm talking about. DUers complained that they weren't covering it and what do I see the moment I turned CNN on? Coverage of the protests.

21. Isn't every commercial on CNN for Pharmacy Companies?
That all I seem to see -- Loud Commericials until the end and then in a soft voice we hear all the side effects.

We need to contact the 24/7 drug companies they push and say that Honey and other natural foods will be our choice from now on.

Where is a list of their sponsors?

26. I can't watch the "news" on TV without feeling the bile rise.
You nailed it by calling it http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article7260.htm">fascist. One of the greatest lies ever perpetrated by the reich-wingers is that the media is liberal. It is CORPORATE. They are owned by corporations and accountable to their owners. The same can be said about Congress as well. That's why there was never an honest http://www.joebageant.com/joe/2009/08/the-entertainment-value-of-snuffing-grandma.html">"debate" about our health care crisis.
