Jesus may have been speaking metaphysically in that moment, but molesting, raping, or otherwise physically and emotionally harming children does them great spiritual damage.

The man who is now Pope has apparently spent his career from bishop onward caring more about the bad-publicity aspect of scandal than about eliminating the actual causes of scandal.
