How do the Police know the shot to Cantor's office happened at 1am? |
|
or thereabouts?
Is that when it was reported? Was someone there?
I know I live in the sticks, but it's pretty quiet even in our state capitol at 1 am on a week night.
Are there any verifiable facts available?

...some cities have listening devices that hear gunshots. Not only can they tell the time of the shot but with multiple microphones they can triangulate the location of the shot. Again, just a guess.

...expand your answer. Are you saying D.C. doesn't have those devices?

better guess than I would have had. I'm pretty naive when it comes to the kind of technology out there today I'm afraid.
Sounds like it must have been a security alarm.

2. I apologize for not having a link to post.. |
|
..but I think I read somewhere(?) that the breaking glass triggered a building security alarm.. aren't those alarms often wired to a security co/local law enforcement? The time the alarm went off would be documented, I assume..

9. The sound of breaking glass trips an audio alarm |
|
which, depending on the system, can be recorded with a time stamp. Sometimes the PD get that kind of alarm mechanically and sometimes there are actual monitors who call the police when they hear breaking glass.

5. thanks- that would explain it. |
|
Do you know if the alarm triggered the police investigation? There sure seems to be very little real information available.

10. It set off a security alarm when it broke the glass and the system recorded it or |
|
automatically phoned the police or a security company.
Point being - when the window broke it got detected.

11. As others said, it was a security system. And for the record, it wasn't his office. |
