Republican Leaders Are To Blame For This Attack On A Man and His Child
Edited on Fri Mar-26-10 11:29 AM by berni_mccoy
Republican leaders have ratcheted up the violent rhetoric and their base is responding, surprise, with violent behavior.

As I blogged yesterday, Republican leaders are OPENLY instigating violence (see: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/berni_mccoy/967)

This latest instance is reported via Kos: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/3/26/851090/-TN-Man-Rams-Car-Carrying-Child-Due-to-Obama-Bumpersticker

TN Man Rams Car Carrying Child Due to Obama Bumpersticker

We already know how scary it is out there. And it just continues to get worse. Now the lunatics aren't just going after public officials; they're going against anyone who shows support for Democrats.

This incident occurred yesterday in Nashville, and is an indicator of just how far some of these people are willing to go.

gsadamb's diary :: ::
This attack was reported by WKRN Online and paints a truly frightening picture.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A Nashville man says he and his 10-year-old daughter were victims of road rage Thursday afternoon, all because of a political bumper sticker on his car...

Duren had just picked up his 10-year-old daughter from school and had her in the car with him. "He pointed at the back of my car," Duren said, "the bumper, flipped me off, one finger salute." But it didn't end there...

Once he started driving again, down Blair Boulevard, towards his home, he said, "I looked in the rear view mirror again, and this same SUV was speeding, flying up behind me, bumped me."

Duren said he applied his brake and the SUV smashed into the back of his car. He then put his car in park to take care of the accident, but Weisiger started pushing the car using his SUV.

Harry Weisiger has been charged with felony reckless endangerment, which is something, but it's clear that his actions weren't just reckless; they were intentional. He used an SUV as a weapon, a weapon that could just as easily have been deadly.

We've seen for the past week things escalate, and now it's come to this. Fuck Cantor and anyone who says this wave of violence, intimidation, and yes, terrorism, is being blown out of proportion to score political points.

This really needs to stop.

Yes, this does really need to stop. And it's Republican leaders who need to be stopped.

2. I had a lunatic on the highway pull up next to me, roll down his window and yell
"Fuck Obama and fuck you too!"

And this was three months ago. They're much crazier now.

3. Nice.
An Obama sticker causes a nutcase to ram his car into another knowing a 10 year old girl is inside? Sick sick sick. But I'm sure the insane rhetoric emanating from the likes of FOX and RUSH had nothing to do with it.

6. Repugs can't stop it.
1. If they turn on the teabaggers, the teabaggers will turn their rage toward repugs. 2. They need teabagger rage for the upcoming elections. The party laid down with the dogs. Now they are stuck with teabagger fleas.

7. Now, when this happens the other way....
Not the vehicular assault. I mean the incendiary rhetoric.

Remember the fuss over "black antisemitism"? A Nation of Islam speaker gave a speech at a college that was anti-semitic (and anti-Catholic and homophobic as well) and suddenly every member of the Congressional Black Caucus was expected to publicly issue a loud and vehement condemnation at the snap of a finger, or else face accusations that they actively supported such bigotry. It didn't matter that they weren't connected to the event: they had to choose to either bark on command or get painted as Louis Farrakhan's BFF.

Does ANYTHING on the Right resemble that circus? Maybe when they attack their own "moderates". Everything else seems like fair game to them, and so their people with "impulse control problems" are constantly egged on.
