TPM: Police On Cantor Incident: 'We're Calling It Random Gunfire'
In an interview with TPM, a Richmond Police Department spokesman said the bullet that penetrated a window in a building that includes a campaign office of Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) was "an act of random gunfire."

"What we were describing yesterday in fact describes an act of random gunfire," said Public Information Manager Gene Lepley.

Cantor held a nationally televised press conference yesterday in which he said, "Just recently, I have been directly threatened. A bullet was shot through the window of my campaign office in Richmond this week." He said he has been targeted not only because he is a member of Congress, but also because he is Jewish.

But a police statement on the incident, which occurred early Tuesday morning, suggested that someone had fired a bullet up into the air and it went through the window of the building on the way back down. While it went through a window, it did not penetrate the blinds, according to the police.

2. Now how did Cantor know he was targeted "because he was Jewish" ?
Particularly since all the evidence points to random gunfire? Maybe only people targeting Jews engage in random gunfire? Wait - if it is random can it be called targeted? I am so confused now.

3. That's one hell of a coincidence.
But I think the police are right, it sounds like a act of random gunfire.

Unfortunately for Cantor, I don't think it would have been quite as effective to say, "A bullet was shot straight into the air and went through the window of my campaign office on the way back down."

4. Looks like False Flag to me...
...And I'm sure we'll be seeing more of this. Seriously, which party is filled with gun nuts, and which party hates guns? WHich party is just looking for an excuse for more violence?

5. As someone else pointed out the building is not located in Cantor's district.

And the address is nowhere to be found on Cantor's campaign website.

Also, according to Google Maps when using the address it shows the following at the address:

Bolling for Lt Governor (Republican)
Cantor for Congress (Republican)
Creative Direct LLC (Winning Direct Mail for Republican Candidates)
LaCivita Consulting LLC (Republican consultant, Swift Boat Vets)
Marcus & Allen LLC (Consulting firm for Cantor, former Governor Gilmore, Attorney General Jerry Kilgore, Americans for Freedom, New Majority Project)

If anyone noticed in any of the videos the building is named the "Reagan Building".

7. Why should facts like those get in the way of a perfectly good lie?

6. Cantor is suffering from delusions of grandeur. Either that or he just likes to
lie through his teeth.

8. Well, as long as he's not using this incident for political gain,
he's not a hypocrite at all, nope, not at all.

11. Richmond PD covering their asses
Edited on Fri Mar-26-10 02:04 PM by arcadian
Richmond wouldn't even provide sheriff's deputies, Marcus & Allen had to get an off duty Henrico sheriff's deputy.
