It sounds like Republicans are giving Bush until September to turn things around in Iraq
Pete Domenici of New Mexico was on the radio today and he basically said Bush had until September to really show some progress in Iraq.

It seems the Republicans know they can't go into the next election with Iraq still a mess. They want it off voters minds by the elections.

Bush has five months before the Republicans completely abandon the sinking ship!

1. I think you're right.
They've probably brought in the political analysts, the strategists, the marketing people, the focus groups, et al, and figured that September was the point of no return - jump ship or lose in '08.

Problem is WE WON'T FORGET who started this war, WHO rubber-stamped its conduct, WHO spent the billions, WHO cheer-leaded it, and WHO lied about it for political gain.

The true point of no return was the day this debacle was begun. The GOP are going to be on the receiving end of Shock & Awe come the next election ...

This confirms what Pete Domenici said today.

3. Right.
What's a few thousand dead amongst war criminals and their enablers.

It's no accident that the oil contracts must be secured by late summer.

5. True that but what year?
I mean, what's the point anyway? It's like Tenet challenging Junior's made up intelligence when it's too late to matter, except for the purpose of properly assigning blame.

6. 2-cents
wishful thinking that bush's "plan" will work and save their repub-butts

as far as bush and his loyalists go - they are trying to run out the clock and dump it on the next administration

7. That's because after the August recess, Congress and a lot of the Senate
start to campaign a year ahead of time for 2008. Bush will be an albatross toward their chances of re-election.

9. Susan Collins made a similar noise the other day.
Article in the Bangor Daily News the other day had a quote (sorry, don't have link).

But, yea, September seems to be the moderate GOP breaking point. Perhaps we should pick a day in Sept to remind them, say the 11th?

11. Let's Kick The Can Another Friedman, Shall We???
Why make the tough choices today when you can put it off til tomorrow or the month after that...and it's all bullshit.

Let's call it as it is...the Repugnicans DO NOT want to end this invasion or withdraw troops while their manchild and his cabal are still around. Anyone who thinks the GOOOP goons have any sense of principal or can be believed needs to put down the kool-aid. While there might be one or two who may have realized how this invasion is destroying our country and their decrepit party, but the majority are still into the greed and bloodlust...and most important, avoiding taking responsibility for the messes they've created.

Be assured, September will roll around, booshie will roll out the "Fall Model" involving some crisis or other situation where an escalation or some "surge" will be needed and the words said in May will no longer be "operative".
