Ex-police chief: Mo. city made me stop blacks

ST. LOUIS — The former police chief of a posh St. Louis suburb is suing the city, claiming he was fired for refusing to pull over blacks or go along with a ticket quota for nonresidents.

The lawsuit filed Monday names the city of Ladue (Luh-DOO'), Mayor Irene Holmes and members of the City Council.

In it, former police chief Larry White says Holmes told him that she wanted "those people" to be pulled over. White says he understood "those people" to be blacks.

White also claims he was pressured to meet ticket quotas — but to avoid ticketing Ladue residents, even those suspected of driving while intoxicated.

2. Sadly, no surprise there. Ladue is THE "money" area of St. Louis, where
all the chiefs of surgery, bank presidents, and Cardinals players live.

3. Ladue, MO, is mentioned in this TIME article (ca 1991)
titled The Last Bastions of Bigotry, concerning country clubs that discriminate on the basis of race. Seems the St. Louis Country Club, in Ladue, ceded the opportunity to host major championships rather than admit African American members.

Looks like the wealthy, sheet-wearing mighty muckity-mucks of Ladue need this opened on them:

Sounds like federal laws may have been broken in profiling African Americans for ticketing - especially when it's systemic, as it appears to be in this case.

4. sounds like Biloxi, Mississippi, but in reverse -
ticket all the locals and let the out-of-staters do anything they please.

Laws can be so speciously applied as to be meaningless after a while.

5. Has the hit job on White begun? You know the PD is going to say
that White was a bad cop, unstable, etc.

6. They need to have the county sheriffs patrol and hand out tickets to the residents.
Especially those in local government.
