Everything the right-wing does is designed to accomplish one of two things
Jack Clark, in his EXCELLENT, highly recommended podcast (available free at iTunes), puts it this way:

"Everything the right-wing does is designed to accomplish one of two things, either (a) transfer wealth from everyone else to the rich, or, (b) distract everyone else from the fact that (a), that wealth transfer, is occurring."

***

It is that simple. It is such a powerful explanatory statement that it bears repeating:

Everything the right-wing does is designed to accomplish one of two things,

EITHER

(a) transfer wealth from everyone else to the rich,

OR

(b) distract everyone else from the fact that (a), that wealth transfer, is occurring.

***

And THAT explains why those on the right stoke racism (b1), why they embrace anti-intellectualism (b2), why they froth at the mouth about flag burning(b3), or the pledge of allegiance(b4), socialism (b5), founding fathers (b6), abortion(b7), taking your guns(b8) or whatever (bx) strategy they are using that particular day to keep ordinary people from noticing (a) and to keep ordinary people to continue to support right-wing politics, all the while being on the short end of (a).

***

Packed with the very best practical ammunition for the water cooler wars! Know how to control the dialog and state your position in such a way that they cannot disagree. Really.

12. Perfect example: grand-daughter-in-law's family are rabidly so even though
her parent's have been bankrupted by medical expenses and the health insurance death panel has condemned the father to death by not authorizing the covered requisite treatment that could probably cure, all this painfully a microcosm of the rabid RW pathology, irrationality, and psychosis running amok.

4. I agree....follow the money
It is all about the money...and the GOP continues to use the same tactics as they have for the last decade...

2 things are close to peoples hearts...RELIGION AND POLITICS.

and they use these 2 mediums to promote 2 things.....FEAR AND SMEAR

one agenda....MONEY....CORPORATE MONEY......and they still don't care if they go overseas with their jobs....they don't care if workers are left behind....they dont care if the poor get poorer.....as long as they maintain their wealth.

It is the same crap ..... the same old crap and they don't want to lose...they are afraid and trying one last hurrah....CHANGE IS INEVITABLE.... they just don't realize it....try as they may..it won't work.

But Dems need to pull together...more than ever!

5. they believe that wealth shows gods favor of a man/corporation, so its a sin to tax them, and the
poor are being punished so its a sin to help them..

the bottom 80% of americans only hold 7% of financial wealth.. the top 1% holds 37% of all the financial wealth in the nation.

6. Wow, nicely put. Finally a sound bit that really is meaningful. When I used to teach Social Studies,
I would repeatedly remind the students that just about every-thing that happened in history has to do with money, because wealth equals power. (And power equals more wealth. And more wealth equals more power...)
