OK, what's the new weirdness about the IRS being involved in |
|
the healthcare bill? http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Health-care-reform-means-more-power-for-the-IRS-56781377.htmlI can't keep up with internet/cable "news" crap anymore. Can someone summarize this, or at least tell me where this garbage came from?

1. The RW talking point is that the IRS will send agents to your door... |
|
if you don't have health insurance. It's utter bullshit.

2. I hear the IRS will be enforcing the child tax credit by making you have a child. |
|
The same goes for the mortgage interest deduction. Buy a house or go to jail.

3. The IRS is the enforcement mechanism for the healthcare bill |
|
That is not a RW talking point. That is the truth. The IRS will not send agents to your door, they will just seize your tax returns if you refuse to pay an outrageous premium to some insurance company.

If you owe the government money they will take any returns you are going to receive.

17. Do you know what a "tax return" is? It's the document you file, and no, |
|
they won't be seizing it.

I just had a friend whose return was seized over some copays he owed for Rx's from VA. Guess his status changed but they never notified him or sent him a bill which was an oversight on their part. Nevertheless, he found out about it when they seized his tax refund.

Show about 1 hr. ago.
The Isd nohiring extra agents & they are not going to send any to hour house! The way the bill is structured, everyone will pay an increrased tax and will get a discount (basically avoiding the new tax, if they have ins. If you don't have enough income to afford ins. you will receive a subsidy from the FEDS. If you don't make any money, you obviusly wont have to file an income tax return and none of those rules apply to you. If you're in that low incoome catgory, you will be put into Medicare and receive free HC.
Aall of what you've heard is Pub BS!

10. If you don't make any money you certainly do file a tax return. |
|
Various credits may apply and you would be foolish not to file. You can get a return back even if you don't pay in any taxes. The IRS would then seize that money. Please don't BS and sugarcoat it.

20. you do not have to file an income tax return if you don't make any money |
|
if you are unaware of available tax *refunds* for low/no income, then it's a shame that you lose out, but not necessarily foolish. I had no income for several years, but had no inkling there might have been refunds (this was back under W) -- it had never occurred to me that there might be and so I didn't bother to file.

8. So here is what it is... |
|
Edited on Fri Mar-26-10 10:16 PM by Ozymanithrax
If you do not qualify for medicaid...or If you do not have health coverage through an employer...or If you do not buy some kind of personal health insurance coverage...or If you and your family are not active duty military...or IF you do not qualify for Medicare...or If you are not retired military with Tricare...or If you are a citizen of Massachusets or some other state that has enacted state wide health care
you can be charged a fine of $96.00+ dollars
Unless you can show that health coverege will cost more than 8% of your income...or You are a member of a religous group that doesn't believe in health care.
The IRS will asses the penatly against your tax credits or bill because you will then be covered anyway if you choose to visit an emergency room.

21. Just a couple of corrections |
|
Your 8% figure is for those with healthcare benefits through their employer. If your part of the cost of the premium from the benefits your employer provides is more than 8%, you will receive a subsidy to use the money to buy through the exchanges. Citizens purchasing their own insurance who make more than 400% of FPL will receive a waiver if their premium is over 17% of FPL.
Also, the fines will increase, over time, to a high of around $2,000 for a family or 2.5% of income whichever is higher.

Then you'll be sent to a FEMA camp for "re-education".
I think it was in the amendment that Stupak insisted on, right after the part where abortion was made mandatory.
Didn't you read the details?

I won't believe it. Believe always half of what you read and hear. Then waith a few days to the really deal comes out. Think about how does the IRS have anything to do with health care. Don't believe it.
