Judge recognizes historic accomplishment of pedophile priest
http://fwix.com/milwaukee/share/f41290b7b4/waukesha_county_priest_sentenced_to_20_years_in_prison

WAUKESHA, Wis. --
Former priest James Blume, 64, was sentenced to 20 years in prison Friday for sexually abusing two boys. Blume received the maximum sentence under Wisconsin law. Blume's lawyers had requested he be sentenced to a year in jail . . .

<snip>

. . . The sentencing came a day after news broke internationally the Vatican knew about the actions of sexually abusive Milwaukee priest Father Lawrence Murphy but didn't remove him from the priesthood. The timing didn't go unnoticed during Friday's sentencing.

Judge J. Mac Davis said, "Indeed James Blume and others like him managed to accomplish something of historic proportions. They've undermined the status of the Roman Catholic Church in today's world and religion in society in general."

1. I disagree with the statement that pedophiles "undermined the status of the Roman Catholic Church"
The Catholic church's leadership has done that. I'm sure Mr. Blume will enjoy his stay in the can.

3. I think the "Inquisition"
Might have been a bit of a PR blunder as well. And the Crusades really pissed off some of the competition.
