Searchlight Live Video Feed
Edited on Sat Mar-27-10 11:26 AM by MineralMan
Fox has a live feed from a fixed camera up at the Searchlight on Baggers deal in Nevada.

From the image, which is at the back of the crowd and faces the stage, it looks like about 1000 people there.

Watch for the numbers reported to be over 10,000. And yet...here is the video...

1. It's windy as the dickens there. Those folks are going to get really
annoyed by that. Dust will soon be blowing. Looks like about 25 mph winds.

Dust, constant wind, and right-wing nuts.

The Joshuas are nice, though.

14. The first thing they need to do is learn to count.
The current speaker just announced that the crowd was closer to 20,000.

are not Independents ~ they are Eagle Forum IAs. Big difference.

12. They are working very hard to dennounce the Tea Party of NV
and its candidate. This is spurred by the efforts of the GOP, who realized almost too late, how a tea party candidate would screw up their chances of defeating Reid, as it plays right into a Reid win having a third party candidate here in NV.

Two potential candidates speaking, and I'm done. The incoherence, the repeated rw jingles complete with bad grammar, the obvious ignorance...my brain hurts.

26. I'm telling you, it's too bad the MSM wouldn't give us free PR--
talking about the big peace movement before *'s lying war hard on. Can you imagine if the MSM would have followed our rally--we'd have maybe a couple of million, instead of the over 500,000. And, that's what the MSM has been doing for these clueless corporate pawns. To me, this is no grassroots movement-it was created with help from certain neo-con repukes and corporations-with easy access to MSM. I wonder when the totally clueless wake up and find they've been used--or maybe they never will--spin, spin, spin--repeat, repeat--same old lies, until they spout the shite like zombies. Isn't that how Hitler said it could be done in Mein Kampff, to gain the attention of the masses?

29. I think of that all the time, newspeak
I can recall when I finally landed on some teevee coverage of the anti-war march on DC, I think it was, early, back in '03 - via Cspan. I literally cried because this wave of belonging fell over me. It wasn't enough for me to find solidarity on line - that was simple. I needed to see M$M covering it, and they were not. Not until I saw it on Cspan - the huge crowds, folks like me, one by one, filtering by the camera - did I finally realize truly how massive the anti-war crowds were and that it was not just me and a few on line discussion board folks who were against this crazy-ass war.

This current coverage really pisses me off - and it is really scary, if you think about it - that this tea 'bagger crap gets 24-7 hour coverage, with Palin no less, and nary a word of the massive, and I mean massive, anti-war protests were covered back then. It's scary because it just confirms that we have no main stream voice that hits the average American.

M$M wants to stoke this conversation - they wanted the anti-war conversation muted.

27. I was there.
"Watch for the numbers reported to be over 10,000. And yet...here is the video..."

I went but left, I didn't want to fight the crowds. I'm glad I found this video feed. But I did see the highway up to the event. There were cars parked on the sides of the highway five miles north of the event and at least five miles south towards Searchlight. Not to mention the people parking in Searchlight and being dropped off by busses.

I imagine the TV camaras are just positioned to get a good shot of the speakers (AKA Sarah Palin, as this fox feed isn't showing the entire event, just her for the most part). If folks are looking for inflated numbers, I've heard talk of 50,000 and 60,000 which does sound more than what were there. How many people can 20 miles of cars, trucks, vans, RVs, and busses, (counting both sides of the highway north and south of the event) hold?

30. Welcome to DU, Jenki
:hi:

Thanks for the info - I look forward to hearing more of your experience there.

For reference, 50,000 is what Burning Man tops and that's a very large crowd which takes a great deal of preparation. Even if this crowd was in the 20K range, I imagine traffic was a mess. At least it brought some business in to the area!
