Roy Blount just said Congress should ignore the polling - ignore the PEOPLE
He said the war is too important to bow to the polling.

Just who the fuck do these people think they work for?

1. Judging by his response
I'd say he was working for the Bush administration. Wouldn't you?

3. So Congress, the voice of the people, should ignore the people.
It takes a real Republican to come up with an idiotic line like that. I wonder how his constituents feel about his overt contempt for them.

4. I'll bet "ole roy" ( a popular dog food) wanted Congress to ignore
the polls in the late 90's too when Clinton was pegging 70%. Hell, roy why not just do away with elections.

5. But by listening to the people they would hear things they don't like
For example:
1. Why they lost the 2006 election

2. They're a bunch of corrupt neandrathals. (Although in all fairness, I've seen a few stories printed here at DU that are showing the Democrats are now cozying up to these corporate groups)

3. That the majority is tiring of this farce.

4. That the majority are tired of being lied to.

Besides, the only polling they care about is what the 29% of the country think.

on note:
In all fairness. Both parties really only care about what the public thinks when the public is behind them on an issue.

7. He also said troops are already facing serious problems because of no money
Blunt is just a bald-faced liar...but of course, he is Repubican, so I guess that goes without saying. It is already established fact that the troops and the war are fully funded through July, and even after that there is more than enough money -- to begin a phased withdrawal. That is why these guys are losing everything in sight. They just sit there and look into the camera and LIE and think no one cares. Of course, John Roberts didn't care enough to challenge Blunt on the issue, and allowed the man to sit there and lie to the American people.
