Joe Arpaio's troops raid McDonald's, hold Hispanic U.S. citizen for 4 hours
Source: Phoenix New Times

If you're Hispanic in Maricopa County, Sheriff Joe's goons have probable cause to arrest you on suspicion of being undocumented. Hey, they can always release you later.

That's the word from the elephant's mouth after an MCSO raid on four area McDonald's yesterday that netted an American citizen, Viridiana Ramirez, who was cuffed and held for four hours as she pleaded with MCSO thugs that she was born in this country and could prove it.

What was Arpaio's response to the news that his Kris Kobach-trained deputies has violated the civil rights of a single mother and terrorized her no end?

"That's just normal police work, " he shrugged in a news conference following the raid. "Sometimes you do have probable cause, you do take people in for questioning, and they're released."

So it's arrest 'em if they're brown first, and sort 'em out later. False arrest and imprisonment be damned.

4. Ramirez has a federal civil case she can pursue

Arpaio was pulled from the DHS 287-G program which gave him the legal right to arrest and detain suspected illegal aliens.

10. And may she bankrupt the county and may their taxes
skyrocket making Maricopa County unaffordable. Seeing that the people keep on re-electing him, they should pay too.

5. Damn! When will someone finally sue or press charges...
or something against this asshole! He's committed civil rights violations on several occasions ...

He completely and openly admitted (bragged even) that the prison is for the animal shelter and that the prisoners have to stay in an outdoor prison in tents. Sounds fine, except these guys are in the desert! And, it's kinda funny, but really immature for a Sheriff to think of...but, they have state-issued pink underwear! What the hell?

This guy is dangerous. What does he have to do to cross the line?

13. He has been sued multiple times ~
http://www.arpaio.com/top-ten/index.php

3: Millions of tax dollars have been wasted on lawsuits

Lawsuits brought against Arpaio by employees, former employees, inmates, and the families of dead inmates have cost the county millions and Arpaio has misled the public about the cost to taxpayers of lawsuits.

The case of Scott Norberg, who died in jail, is a good example. Arpaio has frequently said the $8.25 million settlement cost the county nothing and was covered by insurance. What he does not say is that, at the time of the settlement, the county had a $1 million deductible.

Because of these lawsuits, the deductible for the sheriff's office insurance coverage has increase from $1 million to $5 million per incident.

And here is a list of people who died (up to 2007) while in his custody. Most were disabled in some way and in jail for short terms for petty crimes.

http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2007-12-20/news/dead-end

And cruel as his tactics are to humans, the news of one of his swat teams surrounding a house with tanks to find someone who had outstanding tickets, deliberately chasing a puppy trying to escape the fire they started in the house, back into the burning home where it died, disturbed even some of his rightwing supporters.

The man is insane and the fact that he is still in office, despite being condemned by human rights organizations for his brutality, says a lot about this country. Any one of the cases above, should have lost him his job.

The thrill killing of the puppy should have been headlines and the man should be in a mental institution.

14. One massive lawsuit that will make the insurance
worthless. Bankrupt the county, raise the taxes, ruin it's economy, that will force change.

And yes, since the people of the county vote for him time and time again, they should pay.

his opponent. Bitching about this out of state via the internet doesn't do anything. If the Dems really wanted to do anything about this monster they could have. But guess what? It isn't important to the PTB.

7. Time to place Sheriff Joe under arrest
and let him rot in his own humiliating Tent City, AZ.

I just saw Tent City on TV (Lockdown on National Geographic) and it was totally disgusting on how he treats people.
