RNC rejects joint 'civility' statement

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0310/35096.html

The Republican National Committee has rejected a proposal from its Democratic counterpart to sign a joint “civility” statement, POLITICO has learned.

Various members of the DNC — including Chairman Tim Kaine, Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon and Communications Director Brad Woodhouse — contacted their respective RNC counterparts this week in hopes of getting RNC Chairman Michael Steele to co-sign a document with Kaine that, in part, called for “elected officials of both parties to set an example of the civility we want to see in our citizenry.”

Republicans see the statement as an attempt to force them to either reject the statement — allowing Democrats to say the RNC finds the incidents acceptable — or to sign on to something that the DNC would later wield against them.

The proposed statement was faxed and hand-delivered to the RNC at midmorning Friday. POLITICO learned Friday afternoon that the RNC would not sign the DNC statement.

RNC Communications Director Doug Heye told POLITICO that Steele chose not to agree to the statement because “we don’t need to do anything on their schedule or on their timetable.”

3. I reached out to the local GOP a few years ago.
We were having Kerry signs defaced. I called and asked if the local Republican party would join us in asking that signs not be defaced. Their response? Some of our signs have been ruined, too. I said that would be an even greater reason to put out a statement. Dead silence. Then the phone clicked. There had not been one single report of any Republican signs that had been tampered with.

4. We had the same problem here, the R's were stealing signs all over the place during
the last election. One of my neighbors put up a sign, large, saying each time an Obama/Biden sign was stolen he was donating several hundred dollars to Obama. His new signs stayed. My next door neighbor put his on his porch.

It simply brought home to me yet again what despicable individuals many R's have become. In another local election here one of the R's, the rep. running, was caught on video stealing his opponent's D signs.

5. This can only hurt the repukes
People are getting fed up with all the fighting going on and will take it out on the repukes in November. Unless the msm keeps on saying stuff like "Obama's health care plan stinks!" or "Obama's jobs creation bill stinks" or just plain, "Obama stinks!". But a lot of the people I talk to are getting fed up with the msm as well.
