Can anyone give an official source that the FBI raids last night were about pipe bombs? |
|
I'm reading over and over more and more frequently about pipe bombs but no one is sourcing this. The warrants are sealed and the feds are not talking so where is this info coming from?

1. Who knows? It was in several news stories from legitimate outlets. |
|
But, who knows? Time will reveal more, I imagine.

2. The Feds are not talking for obvious & justifiable (I think) reasons |
|
so, all we can rely on is what is gleaned from "leaks" or unnamed media sources. For now...

"An official for the FBI's Michigan bureau said initial court appearances are expected in Michigan on Monday." This gives the impression that the feds made the claim but they did not. Typical faux reporting.

26. Hard to blame Fox News |
|
Every media outlet that has reported anything with news value has used anonymous sources. On the record, nobody is saying anything.

4. The source is FoxNews and their source very well could be the militias themselves. |

8. Or faux could be picking up on an internet rumor. There is no |
|
clear sourcing of the pipe bomb assertion. It may be true but so far it is unsourced.

5. While it seems unlikely anyone can source conclusivly at present |
|
(and possibly, never enough for some) I doubt it was about overdue library books or parking tickets.
That kind of operation is usually well grounded in cause.

11. Yep, but I don't think a lot of DUers realize that the pipe bomb assertion |
|
is coming from an unsouced faux report.

Only THIS story.
From an objective standpoingt, it seems odd that THIS story has you so disturbed.

21. We are barraged by misinformation and total bullshit - |
|
most of it on the order of 'Death Panels Killed Gramma', and you are all upset that a bunch of fruitcake militia weapons nuts arrested by an interstate but tight-lipped FBI operation, might be incorrectly identified as involved with IEDs. Hell yeah we need to ask.

22. It's coming from MSM, so as long as people know that, and that it's from Faux, |
|
let them think what they will.
Are you actually trying to minimize the seriousness of this matter? Do you think this bust went down over a parking ticket???
FOX IS REPORTING THAT IT INVOLVED SELLING PIPE BOMBS. There. I said it, too. Make of it what you will.

10. Why are you so disturbed by the notion that militias may manufacture pipe bombs. |
|
If FoxNews, who arguably has the most inroads into RW terrorist groups than any other news source, wants to assert the arrests were over pipe bombs, I'm inclined to believe them.
Please note how quickly they were to distance the militias from "international terrorism" and proclaim them to be no threat to the public. That leads me to believe Fox to be reporting something they believed, but weren't necessarily happy about.

14. You make an incorrect assumption. |
|
I am not "disturbed by the notion that militias may manufacture pipe bombs." That may very well be the case. What bothers me so much is how fast unsourced assertions are accepted and spread. THAT is my only problem with this.

Offhand, I could not care less if sloppy reporting from False Noise results in linking Teabagnuts with Rightwing Militias busted by the FBI, and if those reports involve Improvised Explosive Devices, the favorite weapon of rightwing religionist extremists all over the world.
