Do the Repubic Senators believe all the crap that they spew on the Senate floor? |
|
I've been listening in this morning, and I heard Isakson from Georgia talk about how we found the remnants of WMD's in Iraq which means that Saddam had them, and I'm listening to Coryn (sp?)talking about how Al Queda was in Iraq and mention 9-11 in the same breath. I need a pair of hip waders, its getting really deep.

3. i think most of them know its bullshit for their clueless base. |
|
Some are self delusional, but most are just telling the lies over and over again hoping that their base doesn't open their eyes and really see what is happening.
Steph had a caller on this morning (Saddam connected to 9/11, Saddam had WMDs) that represents the "dead enders" of our own insurgency (what I will the * pResidency). They are the clowns that these idiots are playing to, but it's an act.

4. I think many of them do |
|
after all, a very large portion of the population believes in angels, the devil, people rising from the dead...
suspending reality is ingrained in most of us in sunday school. People recite the Apostle's Creed every week.
So if your brain has been programmed that believing in an unprovable reality makes sense, and repeating the same talking points over and over to reinforce that "truth" is the way life is, well...
I can't wait for Al Gore's book, the Assault on Reason

5. They are handed a script, much like an actor, and |
|
their job is to go out there and read it. It doesn't matter if they believe any of it. They take marching orders from Rove - who, no doubt, has a very big file on each of them.

9. Right--there is no independent thought going on here, except |

that I'm sure they are allowed "creative freedom" to try to make their points in the most colorful, flame-throwing way possible.

6. No, that's their "the sky will fall" school of rhetoric... |
|
As in "Mr. President, this august body must pass my pet legislation in all its sundry particulars, or the sky will fall!"
It's gotten worse since the 80s, since these speaches are mined for quotes to fundraising newsletters. When the only ones paying attention to what you're saying are the ones you're trying to woo (financially or electorally), you hand them gobs of red meat, sanity be damned.

7. Lying is the forte of Republicans. They are |
|
an entirely different breed. I am not sure if they were born that way or it is a learned way of life. Either way there are too many of them out there.

their Intelligence Quotients. The smarter ones don't believe a word of it. They're just fooling some of the people some of the time.
