rut roh... FReepers choking on more Liberty
Edited on Sun Mar-28-10 10:51 PM by Froward69
God forbid Americans having the more rights to decide for themselves... their OWN end of life.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2482026/posts

It appears that if you want to refuse medical treatment and die with dignity... the Freepers can't handle that.

Senate Reconciliation Bill, Section 1553 - Prohibition against discrimination on assisted suicide.

as for me I welcome this. as my Dad (once declared terminal) wanted to forgo fighting and end it quickly Dr Kevorkian style.

the republican county he lived in refused and stuck Me with the two years (and many many tears) of medical treatment bills. Medical treatment he did not want. yet was forced upon him.

4. F69-as hard as it must have been, I support your dad's decision and his right to make it.
My SIL's mom had brain cnncer - third recurrence. She called me and told me that she could not bear anothre round of chemo and radiation and was going to let things take their course. She did.

I always respected that decision as very brave, strong and dignified, and I treasure her memory.

8. to answer your question (the reason I became an ardent Democrat)
The House My Dad tossed Garbage cans for thirty five (35) years to pay off. was in Both of our names (joint tenancy). The county went to court and forced a mortage upon this house (what Dad wanted to avoid for me) then Kept him in that county run Hospice against his Will. So once he finally ebbed away, I am stuck with the house payment.

$200,000 hospice bill I get to pay. (with interest)

the insurance company had already convinced Him at 80 to convert his long term care insurance to "Accidental Death"./ he was declared terminal prostate cancer at 81 and died at 83... a year and a half of hospice bills fell upon me.

BTW that's Democrat"ic" Troll.

6. Except that they (and you apparently) misread the bill.
The section they cite says that a provider can't be discriminated against for NOT providing assisted suicide.

12 (a) IN GENERAL.—The Federal Government, and any
13 State or local government or health care provider that re14
ceives Federal financial assistance under this Act (or under
15 an amendment made by this Act) or any health plan cre16
ated under this Act (or under an amendment made by this
17 Act), may not subject an individual or institutional health
18 care entity to discrimination on the basis that the entity
19 does not provide any health care item or service furnished
20 for the purpose of causing, or for the purpose of assisting
21 in causing, the death of any individual, such as by assisted
22 suicide, euthanasia, or mercy killing.

In other words, They have no clue how to read.

7. as much as these morons claim to want "liberty", in the end, they don't want to think for themselves
which is why all of their protests are corporate funded.

Willing tools of corporate America.

They don't understand irony.
