Some Hutaree beliefs. "They mean to fire their guns, and kill people in the name of Jesus."
Edited on Mon Mar-29-10 04:31 AM by laststeamtrain
The battle the Hutarees have been preparing for is not metaphorical. They mean to fire their guns, and kill people in the name of Jesus.

One Hutaree explains his belief in the logic of the Apocalypse, hoping for enough death and destruction to bring about a more pure society. “Enough people and things must be destroyed so that the system may start back over and inflate to maximum potential again. This time around though I see the potential of a long drawn out mad max type scenario, then after years of small scale fighting things will slowly turn back to civilization to start the process again. In doing so the same destruction of people and things will happen. Yes, the whole world at war, but just dragged out without any distinguishable side.”

The Hutarees don’t believe in the idea of Jesus being a pacifist. One Hutaree writes, “I have always thought of Christ as more of a militant and I am glad to have found some kindred souls.”

One section of the Hutaree.com forum is devoted especially to “weapons”. There’s no ambiguity about the intended use of these weapons. They’re not deterrence. The weapons aren’t appreciated as exemplars of American craftsmanship. The subtitle of this part of the forum is “the things you kill with”. ... http://irregulartimes.com/index.php/archives/2010/03/28/hutaree-group-planned-secession-to-fight-non-christians/

1. See?
'"The Hutarees don’t believe in the idea of Jesus being a pacifist. One Hutaree writes, “I have always thought of Christ as more of a militant and I am glad to have found some kindred souls.” '

You can make Jesus whatever you want! He's like an action figure!

5. Or a Transformer.
They've remade Jesus into a right-wing bigot just like them!

What possible sense does it make to say "I have always thought of Christ as more of a militant"? It's like saying "I have always thought of $arah Palin as an articulate, wise voice of reason", or "I have always thought of Mother Teresa as a bloodthirsty child killer".

Christians! Ha.

3. When a missionary boasted to George Bernard Shaw of the numerous converts he had made. . .
Shaw asked, "Can these people use rifles?”

"Oh, indeed, yes,” said the missionary. "Some of them are very good shots.”

Whereupon Shaw scolded him for putting us all in peril in the day when those converts waged holy war against us for not following the Bible in the literal sense they gave to it. For the Bible says, "What a good thing it is when the Lord putteth into the hands of the righteous invincible might.”

8. They should hook up with John Hagee and move to Israel and wait
for Jesus to return there, and wait, and wait, and wait.

12. Wow...thanks for the link to the Alan Watts article.
I've read other books and essays by Alan Watts, but never that one. It's amazing, and it couldn't be more timely. I'm going to repost that on the Religion & Spirituality section of another forum, both for those who need to be reminded of their spiritual priorities and those who don't. As for the "true believers," well...one can always hope.
