Poll: President Obama Understands People Like Me (56%)
Poll: President Obama Understands People Like Me.

During the primaries, Hillary Clinton and others criticized Barack Obama as an "elitist," either explicitly or implictly at times. In addition, Palin and her faux Populism liked to say he was "not one of us," not a regular guy. We all probably remember the bowling fiasco and the argula eating comment. And it's improtant. People want to feel the President understands and cares about the daily problems of regular folks. Well, as Greg Sergent says,

***** The Obama "out of touch with regular people" meme bites the dust (again) as 56% say he "understands the problems of people like you."

than if Bush was in charge. What? Is our Democratic Congress going to have to take away our Social Security to get more people's attention?

It's bad NOW, and no, our Political "leaders" don't understand the average wage-slave American.

3. I won't argue.
I agree on most levels. None-the-less, compared to Bush? Yes, he would be able to envision how life is for me better.

We're slouching instead of careening into "economic fascism."

It won't hurt so much with Obama as compared to Bush ... it's more like warming water slowly around a frog in a pan ... until it's DONE! :scared: :(

5. Yes, but to some here that change in posture is welcome.
I still recognize a turd sandwitch when I see one...but I hope that this guy could and might do better.

6. It's worse than ever.
When you have "a confidant" who turns, the betrayal is much more horrific.

May the good people of our Nation realize that we no longer have a "representative" government ... only OWNERS? The sooner we realize this and take steps to change it, the better for our country.

IMO, the best way to start is to vote out all incumbants until we get the mix who can't be BOUGHT.

It's better? Like the taste of a hot fudge sundae FEELS to the morbidly obese. It FEELS BETTER but it's not getting better for the person him/herself. :wow: :(

It's time to vote them OUT ... all of them!

7. Would that we could...I feel that it's hopeless.

The Ronald Reagan legacy worked. The center-right is the new left...and according to the stupids of this world that center-right is tantemount to Maoism. Money gets people elected...most Americans won't and don't vote. Anyone who the corporate media present as candidates are going to be the candidates.

Call me a cynic. George Carlin was right.

11. Yes, I believe you're correct.
You and I are not in the Big Club. The only comfort is that we know what's coming and can take small steps to support our family members and close friends within our local communities. It would be GRAND if we are wrong and the Country thrives but I won't hold my breath.

At least we're facing the cold, hard truths now ... we won't be in shock when they take away our pensions and/or social security funding.

10. There are different sorts of "one of us."
"Us" can mean "white people," implicitly to some backward types. It was code for that during the 2008 election. There is no such thing as a supra-class "us" in the US, and there cannot be.
