SO Because Chechen Rebels Bombed the Moscow Subway, we Step Up Security at Ours? |
|
I just heard on MSNBC that in New York and other areas, we have stepped up security in our subways. Why? Are we facing a threat from the Chechens (The answer is no).

. . . It's just a way to lobby for more "law enforcement" money.

4. Concerns over copy cat bombings here? Or.. |
|
..over reacting? Or maybe fear mongering.
I'm guessing it's one of those, or it could possibly be a bit of all three..

5. Well, the U.S. DOES kill the family members of lots of innocent people, especially... |
|
...with our drone strikes which seem to have a 50-50 chance of hitting wedding parties, for some reason. The "black widows" which are women who've lost sons and husbands, etc., at the hands of the Russian military and turn themselves into suicide bombers to get revenge aren't unique: I would not be surprised if some of the suicide bombers against U.S. forces in Iraq weren't similarly motivated.
Of course, I can't imagine them coordinating attacks here in the States but then again my Secret clearance was revoked for reading Cherry Poptart too much at the office- who knows what intel they have?

7. I was in Madison WI when McVeigh bombed the building in Oklahoma |
|
Some of the people I worked with were down right scared someone would bomb the public health annex in Madison!
Because of hysteria like that, the police and HSA must look like they are doing something. They not only really fear copy cats they fear not assuaging fear, and they fear the humiliation of looking bad if something actually happpened when the public was in a state of paranoia.

8. no, but possible copycat at NYC subway was my immediate anxiety as well, |
|
esp. since US is gearing up for a big offensive in Afghanistan from where Obama just returned. This one is kinda a no-brainer.
