His background is telling in part, to what motivated his hideous legal opinions. Bybee's aide that helped shape where
the real power resides, the OLC, was born in S. Korea, his family left and came to the U.S. when he was a baby.

His parents lived through the Korean War and were anti- Communists and as a teen in the 80's grew to attach himself
politically with Ronnie Reagan's message...which we all know was the "Evil Empire" stance. After law school, he joined
the Federalist Society, to make a long story short, he soon became a student of American diplomatic history and carried
a very strong assertion of presidential power. This was evident in his writings for law journal articles, and after 9/11
his opinions were exactly what the Bush/Cheney team were looking for.
