Why is this night different from all other nights?
Because Passover (Pesach) is commencing at sundown, and I wish to each and every one of you, no matter whether you celebrate or not, whether you are Jewish or not, a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous Season, AND, one more thing:

As part of the Seder, we as Jews pour off a little wine from our cups to signify our sorrow at the loss of life, even if it is that of our enemies. And so I wish to express that no matter how vile, hating, and rabidly racist/anti-Semitic/ evil some people are, I for one mourn their losses when they occur. In this era of malignantly political, racial, and religious hatred, as exemplified by these insane 'folks' on the, well, on the fringe, it does us all well to rise above pure viciousness, and defeat them, but defeat them with the hope that one day, we shall not have to fight this fight in the manner in which we must today. But fight we must.

Of course, I'm talking about voting and posting on bulletin boards - that's what I mean by 'fighting' and 'defeating'!

5. Have a safe Pesah, and do me a favor
have my Matzoh...

Can't eat it any more.

(Gluten allergy, and it was funny with somewhat fundy brother... what are you gonna do? NOT eat it.")

So go ahead, and have a good one from me and the rest of the family. I think the parrots are happy though, they don't like it either.

8. Pesach is based on the Mediterrannean messianic fish meal.
It was very big pagan deal of which only the token obligatory gefilte fish remains. The Hebrews rewrote the script (literally, because I don't know of any other holiday that has a script like the Haggadah) as celebration of freedom and unity and even humanity. Because when the Hebrews rejoiced that the pursuing Egyptians were slain, God cried out against it, because the Egyptians were also his children. This is the feast of thanksgiving where we are ordered to remember what it was like to be a slave in Egypt. This is the rejoicing where we traditionally bring a stranger to eat and drink and hear the story. And, long as the narrative is, it is carefully crafted so that no adult is sober by the time the food is served.

Pesach, Passover, is actually rooted in peisk which is fish in indoeuropean.

17. No dinosaurs.
It's very hard to get rid of ancient tradition so incoming religions just rewrite them. You know, the way Dumuzi and Tammuz became Jesus on Christmas and Easter.

even though Jesus was born in July.

I wonder if the hospital cafe will make the spinach casserole with bacon bits (imitation) again this year for Passover ?

11. Beautiful thoughts for us all to remember. Shalom!
And, I would add "to life", but I don't know how to spell l'haim, and my google won't come up!

But, I hope you get what I am trying to say.... "to life", indeed.... ALL of life, including those who make a living being thorns in the side.
