This John Avlon guy, all of a sudden is everywhere
Edited on Tue Mar-30-10 07:16 AM by Syrinx
He's all about "centrism." Yeah, right.

I don't think it is an accident.

He is everywhere. Talking about "wingnuts."

His book has, on its cover, Palin, Beck and Olbermann.

As the Electric Company, I think, asked, when we were little children, which of these things don't belong?

I would suggest Olbermann doesn't belong.

The guy is on CNN constantly. He was on C-SPAN for multiple hours over the weekend. He's on C-SPAN as I type, live. And he seems like a very oily guy.

He worked for Clinton, during Clinton's Dick Morris period. And he worked for Rudy. Yeah, that Rudy.

John Avlon is a corporate stooge, and I would love to start a letter-writing campaign to get rid of him.

(Please start writing.)

5. "One of these things is not like the others..."
I think that was from Sesame Street, but you have the right idea.

I saw this book in a bookstore over the weekend and was disgusted. Avlon tries to pretend he's a centrist but he makes a very bad case for it here. I don't see how anyone who ever wrote speeches for Ghouliani can be a centrist. But here's the irony: Far, far more of this book is devoted to talking about right-wing wackjobs than anything else. Olbermann gets only 7 1/2 pages, and they are 7 1/2 very weak, unconvincing pages in which Avlon sorta kinda tries to prove that he is just as crazy as the right wingers, but doesn't try very hard and ultimately (to my mind) fails. He also takes a few cheap swipes at Ed Schultz, which seem to be provoked by nothing other than Ed's statement that the Republican Party "wants you dead" because of its opposition to HCR. I really don't think that works either. Interestingly, he doesn't mention Rachel Maddow at all.

Oh, and he tries to claim that CNN, which gives him a regular forum for his bunk (earlier this year he appeared there with a "top 10 wingnuts of 2009" list that included both Michele Bachmann AND Ed Schultz), is the only news network that "plays it right down the middle," because Fox is an extremist right network and MSNBC is an extremist left network. (Completely ignoring the existence of Joe Scarborough or anyone else on MSNBC who doesn't fit this theory--but also, as I said earlier, not mentioning Rachel Maddow, either to bury her OR praise her.)

It's an idiotic book and deserves to sink like a stone.

I thought Keith was awesome 'till I saw Rachel. I wish she really would run against Scott Brown. She would grind him into meat. :)

specifically, a right wing whackjob

last I checked, Olbermann was not right wing

I thought they used "moonbat" for "left wing whackjob?"
