Militia Man Claims Mistaken Identity
¬snip¬

"I'm not that guy," he said to a judge during a pretrial hearing in Hammond, Indiana. "What they're alleging and what I've done are two different things," Piatek said in Hammond federal court according to the Northwest Indiana Times.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Cherry ordered a special hearing to figure it out.

Piatek did tell the court that he had been “raped” by property taxes so he couldn't afford an attorney, according to the Chicago Tribune, but he had no plans to participate in an attack on law enforcement.

FBI agents, however, searched his car and found a “Hutaree” sticker in the back window and a “Militia Field Manual SOP” book in the truck alongside camouflage clothing and hair dye. Agents were also seen removing boxes of evidence from Piatek's home Monday.

7. Talk about a f*ckin coward!
The guy wants to be a militia warrior, but when he gets caught, he tries to lie his way out of it. These wackos need to wake up and join civilization. Anyone who thinks their way is better than the American way should move to another country that supports their views. That's what I'd do if I were so disenchanted about the policy of my nation that I felt the need to plan attacks against it. A few militias are not going to overthrow the USA. They just don't have a chance against 21st century armed forces. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel!

I support their right to dissent, but taking that dissent to violence puts them on the wrong side of the law. They tend to incite violence and then want to say they were just defending themselves and their beliefs, to justify said violence. Fail!

12. Civilization can do without these loons.
Just give them an all expenses paid trip to the bottom of the Atlantic. One way.

13. so, he's using the "public option" in defense?
"he couldn't afford an attorney" so he's getting a public defender ...

I bet he'll sue when the "ineffectual" lawyer assigned to him doesn't get him acquitted ...
