In a new memo, Republican candidates for U.S. Senate are being instructed to continue to push the "repeal and replace" theme following passage of the President Obama's health care reform legislation.

Republican Senate candidates are being instructed Tuesday to promote the party's health care policy proposals as they continue to push the "repeal and replace" theme following passage of the President Obama's health care reform legislation.

Texas Sen. John Cornyn, who oversees Senate Republican campaign efforts, outlines the key health care talking points in a new memo, "Moving Forward," that was also conveniently sent to some media outlets including CNN.

"On the trail, it's critical that we remind people of the fact that it was Republicans who fought to force insurance companies to compete with one another over state lines for Americans' business," Cornyn writes in the memo. "It was Republicans who fought to reform the junk lawsuits that raise medical costs and lower quality by forcing doctors to practice 'medicine.' It was Republicans who fought for policies that protected Americans with preexisting conditions and it was Republicans who proposed health care reforms that didn't cut Medicare by $500 billion and raise Americans' taxes by $400 million."

(snip)
"Americans don't want a one-party rule in Washington that brings them unprecedented government intrusion in their lives, with no accountability," Cornyn writes.

3. Their Gamble...People Stay Stupid
and they may just be onto something, but not on this matter. As has been discussed many times here, a good segment of those who aren't happy with HCR feel that way cause the bill doesn't go far enough. The question never asked of those who want a repeal is if they want the bill rewritten...my bets are you'd see a majority saying yes.

But that doesn't matter as the short attention span of the electorate will trump their stupidity as by November there will be other issues that will be getting voters attention, HCR will be down the list. It's been said that on election day a person feels their wallet...if the wallet feels good, they stay with those in power, if not, then they will opt for change. Rushpublicans continue to read their own press clippings but Democrats need not to think that now this bill has passed that the party's problems are over...they're just beginning.

4. The only people who are riled up about going for repeal is their base.
There are not enough votes there to win.

5. Double Standards
Did Governor Mitt Romney commit socialism? How can he call Obama a socialist for the individual mandate in health care reform bill, when he has a similar mandate in Massachusetts? I smell a rat. For crying out loud most seniors have govt run health care such as medicare and or medicaid plus social security benefits and that's called socialism? That's like saying that Marilyn Monroe is addicted to soulfood that's good enough to eat, and yet he's against the bill!
