***WINNERS - MARCH PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST****
Edited on Tue Mar-30-10 01:13 PM by Schema Thing
With thanks to everyone who participated, the winners of the February Photography Contest are:

1st Place - sandnsea, for "Gone For Gas"

2nd Place - Cassandra, for "Shall We Dance?"

3rd Place - WannaJumpMyScooter, for "Apple Rot"

"Reclamation", from 5X was almost tied for third, after being the bonus entry after the finals.

And special mention goes to Mira, for "Hangin' in there", just because I really thought this image would be in the top three, and Mira generously helped me with the details of running the contest.

Here is a link to the contest with all entries: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8024483

And with that, I'll pass the April Contest baton on to sandnsea

4. Beautiful shots, all.
Might I suggest "Scenes from Western Alaska" as the next contest topic? Then I might have a chance to win one.

5. I'm a bit flabbergasted
Thanks so much for the votes, and am glad others found the old truck as intriquing as I did. It was literally just sitting along side a long drive-way, no other vehicles or junk in sight. Would be fascinating to know how it ended up there for so many years. The picture really took itself.

My personal favorite is apple rot, I love the colors. The skill and talent to get those colors, amazing.

6. All the photos are amazing, yes.
I can't imagine having the vision to see what you photographers see, and then having the technical skill to get these shots onto my computer screen.

My gratitude to all who participate in the photography contests.

8. Hearty congratulations to the winners.
sandnsea your photo is a well deserved and clear win, moving past really stiff competition. Its bucolic beauty, interrupted and made more fascinating by the decaying car is a very special shot, beautifully framed and balanced.
Kudos!

Cassandra, you know well that you may not be as lauded, but that your second place is what I call the best win.
We all know why, you have the accolade and none of the work for the next contest:).
Your photo enchanted me from the moment I saw it, and obviously it did the same to many others.

And WannaJumpMyScooter, you have a wonderful color thing going, and I would have recognized it as your shot for that reason and the perspective. Beautiful depiction of the theme, and congratulations.

Congrats to you as well, 5X, the encroaching of the reclamation was perfectly captured and labeled.
Very "creepy" beautiful shot.

And Schema thing - you came in for a first time last month - went to immediate victory - ran your first contest ably.
My hat's off to you.

(and thanks for the kind words to me)
