Can states still do their own single payer plans now? Or does the HCR foreclose that? |
|
I'm hearing and reading conflicting things. Did the final bill end up with either Sanders' or Kucinich's amendments?

6. What about ERISA? I thought that blocked all states except Hawaii -- which was grandfathered. |

5. It won't pass in California, because a Republican minority controls the house... |
|
and Senate. Also, California is so deep in deficits right now attempting such a plan would probably be political suicide for the Democratic majority. Republicans would sell it as Democrats being fiscally irresponsible, and a majority would run like lemmings at the suggestion to vote in Republicans.
