Bill Richardson asked what's his favorite reality TV show, answers: "Fox News"

http://www.cnn.com/POLITICS/blogs/politicalticker/index.html

What is your favorite reality TV program?

DEMOCRATS:
-Delaware Sen. Joe Biden: "Don't have one."
-New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton: "American Idol."
-Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd: "'American Idol,' which I say often reminds me of running for president sometimes."
-Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards: College basketball.
-Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich: C-SPAN coverage of the U.S. House of Representatives. No time for other TV.
-Illinois Sen. Barack Obama: "Other than the U.S. Senate on C-SPAN? I don't watch them too often."
-New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson: "Fox News."

REPUBLICANS:
-Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback: "None this season; too busy. Last season it was 'The Amazing Race."'
-Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani: Baseball.
-Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee: "Nashville Star," USA Network's country music competition.
-California Rep. Duncan Hunter: Watches Versus, previously called the Outdoor Life Network.
-Arizona Sen. John McCain: Arizona Diamondbacks baseball.
-Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney: "American Idol."
-Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo: "None."

5. Unfortunately you feel they should be different than the millions of people who watch
it?

I bet they really like that shit. Millions of people do. Should they give an answer that seems intelligent just to make themselves look smarter.

I bet they discuss the show on downtimes just like the people in my office do. My mom likes it and she's a college grad who is Hillary Clintons age. Should I fault my mom and her friends who discuss it @ golf?

I don't like the show but I'm not going to fault anyone for watching it. Seems petty to fault someone for liking a show.

13. Sorry Xultar, I just doubt that she, Romney, or Dodd actually do watch it but said so to look good.

Really as busy as they are (and I know they're busy) they have time to watch "American Idol"? I'm really doubting it.

I find picking the popular answer to be demeaning to the voter. Actually the question should never have been asked in the first place. It has no place in a political debate.

I'm gonna say that Kucinich, Obama, and Tancredo probably gave the best answers. I can believe them.

I know several well educated folks who seem to like it. For the life of me I have no idea why.My Godmother for one. I also let her know that I find it pretty substanceless, as is most reality TV. Once again, like your mother she likes to talk about it with her friends at work.

16. I bet they discuss it though. You should here the people in my office who are well educated
Masters Degrees, Directors, Vice Presidents all discussing this show.

They know all the characters who stays and who goes home.

Don't be so quick to diss.

15. Dodd was sort of cute though--"reminds me alot of running for president."
Somehow I doubt that Clinton & Romney watch the thing but probably focus groups tested the question.

Richardson's answer was excellent.

1. He showed that he knows what a "reality show" is--i.e. the must unrealistic thing in the world. Baseball & CSPAN are not reality shows--well maybe CSPAN.

2. He showed that he know that Fox News is completely unreal.

3. He showed he has a sense of humor.

6. Got to admit, sometimes I tune in for a good laugh
But then sometimes I end up crying. I think the Gov. was joking because Faux News is such a joke.
