Ehrlich will challenge O'Malley for the governor job.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/31/us/31brfs-REMATCHINGOV_BRF.html

O'Malley beat him as he was running for reelection. It was a nice enough win, but too close to suit me.

These days, there is a good deal of anger out there and O'Malley has had to make some deep budget cuts. Not atypical for governors everywhere.

You can bet your sweet ass we'll be working ours off to stop Ehrlich, who really is detestable, but I see this as a tough race.

1. Ehrlich pissed off both Dems and Republicans in his 1st week in office. He's not popular
among Republicans. I knew a lot of his staffers.

I just don't sense much sentiment about O'Malley. That's probably a good thing.

Early to say...

2. Ehrlich spent the entirety of his term pissing off everyone he encountered.
But repubicans, unlike Dems, always fall in line. He will be a formidable candidate if he makes it through any primary challenge that might be mounted.

I'm hoping he gets a challenge from from some far right kook from Cecil County or the Shore or Western Maryland. They grow BIG kooks in those areas.

3. We've had a lot of close Guber elections. Glendenning's last against Sauerbray or whatever
that creep's name was, was close because Glendenning was so icky what with that young wife and baby.

4. Yeah, Ellen Sauerbrey, one of the nastiest humans on two feet.

But you're right. Glendenning was pure, unadulterated ick. That race was Awful(D) vs Horrible(R).

5. Governor Uni-brow
That was our "pet" name for Ehrlich when he was in office.

Even though here in St. Mary's County the populace is growing redder each year, there is good reason to oppose Ehrlich: A scheme he made to sell state-owned wilderness land here to a developer... who just happened to be a huge Ehrlich campaign contributor.

And let's not forget his little scheme to hire homeless people to pass out erroneous election info in Dem neighborhoods... only the date listed in the info as Election Day was actually the day after.

Oh, and there was his plan to stock the bay with Asian oysters... which no doubt would have caused an environmental nightmare.

And the list goes on...

6. Heh! I'm not sure its a unibrow or the result of the scowl of a perpetually angry man
Or maybe its irregularity.

7. Wait a minute....Ehrlich is still being investigated about the BWI deal
the papers out to yell that out loud and clear. We know they members of the zombie wolf pack that live in the panhandle would vote for him if he was connected to Manson even, but with the mess he made in Maryland the rest of the state they won't want him back again.
