3. I didn't find any right wing literature

and my right wing father seemed terribly uninterested in what the bouncing bimbos on Pox News had to say, he was a CNBC man who collected Julia Roberts movies on the sly.

I did, however, find some WWII stuff including his special passport to England in 1939 as a civilian engineer for the RAF.

He might have been a winger, but he was OK.

4. I hold Glenn Beck personally responsible...

(and faux news in general) for making the last 5 years of my father's life stress and anger filled. Rush set him up for it years ago on road trips my parents took while listening to the car radio.

The only time I made headway into my Dad's disinformation is when I gave him "War is a Racket" by Smedley Butler.

I so enjoyed squirting mustard and hot sauce on that damn book. I always turn those books by Palin, Beck, Limbaugh, Hannidy, and O'lily over in Stores, and put something more truthful on top. It is a small scale protest I wage.

5. I'm sorry that happened to you and your dad

and kudos for hanging in there with him. I know how tough it is. Really.

My dad's Limbaugh infatuation was mercifully brief. When the ranting started, I'd just leave, go take a walk down to the park, go drive to the grocery to pick up a few things, anything. When I'd come back half an hour later, I'd sweetly ask if he was done. He got the point in record time.

Now that you mention it, the infatuation came shortly after a road trip he and my mother took.

I'm delighted to say his last vote was for Kerry. He mentioned the Swift Boat smear ads as the thing that drove him over the edge. He loved his tax cuts, but not that much.

I miss him. You'll miss your dad, too, even though you're not going to miss the ranting. Nobody misses that.
