but half a million have moved. I was born here, spent 29 years in exile, and I'm not leaving. But too many good people have because they must. And where can they move to?

4. You Have A Job-That's Good |

But lots of areas have been deserted for lack of opportunity.
Maybe there will be a mass exodus from the U.S.

trying to recruit new business, trying to hold existing business, trying to balance a budget on a shrinking base. I would have had a breakdown by now. It's too bad she can't run for President.

According to the Chamber of Concrete types it's great. To the average person it's so-so and the jobs don't pay shit.

We have lots of college graduates who have to leave and go at the very least 70 miles away to get gainful employment. That is, unless they want to stay in town and use their degrees to say, "It's over on Aisle 6." or ask, "Would you like fries with that?" Believe it or not, a lot of them do have to do that too.

to South Carolina looking for work. Our official unemployment rate is 12 1/2%, at least 20% in reality. It breaks my heart.

Nearest big towns ( Or small cities-whichever) are 90 miles away. And unfortunately, average education is high school. Worse yet, we do not have spectacular schools.
When I was working, I was offered jobs any where in the state because I have a Master's degree. Interestingly, back on the West Coast, I could not easily get a job late 1980's because almost everybody there had a college degree. In my case, moving to the South at that time was a good career choice.
Today, not even a degree helps much. Few jobs.
