The business lobby and right-wing media are howling in unison against President Obama's recess appointment of labor attorney Craig Becker to a seat on the National Labor Relations Board. Republicans have blocked Senate votes on 77 Obama appointees, including his NLRB picks, so the president decided enough was enough. Eric Boehlert of the media watchdog group Media Matters says the right-wing media echo chamber, especially Fox News, has advanced misleading attacks on Becker. In one Fox broadcast it was claimed, for example, that Becker believed employers should have no right to express views on unionization. Boehlert says in a formal hearing Becker said just the opposite.

: “Before a hearing when he joined the board for NLRB he quite clearly stated that when he joins the board in any other overseeing role he would abide by the law. And he said it’s indisputable that employers have that right.”
