Republican candidates scramble to bring Tea Party into GOP fold
This explains a lot, like why rethugs were so reluctant to criticize the crazies.

Republican candidates scramble to bring Tea Party into GOP fold
By Sean J. Miller - 03/31/10 06:00 AM ET

Republican candidates and party officials are trying to lure Tea Party activists into the fold in order to stave off a splintering of the conservative base ahead of the midterm elections.

The Republican National Committee is scrambling to open field offices in targeted states as part of its “Delaware to Hawaii” (D2H) grassroots outreach program.

In Nevada, the Clark County Republican Party is opening a phone bank in Las Vegas later this week specifically for Tea Party members to conduct voter outreach, party officials said.

And from Tennessee to Arizona, Republican candidates are turning up at Tea Party-sponsored events to rail against government spending.

The debate over healthcare and the stimulus program galvanized conservative activists to become politically active much earlier this cycle.

“I think the RNC should be talking about those issues and making sure that the Tea Party folks know they have a home at the Republican Party,” said Chip Saltsman, a Republican consultant who ran for the RNC chairmanship last year.

9. When the South flipped from Democratic to Republican they basically just absorbed the Klan.
So, yes. No surprise.

2. Maybe they could get Olympia Snowe to call the potentially bolting Baggers up
up to discuss the virtues of the modern-day GOP.

"No, really -- the Republican Party has your best interests at heart. Really it does."

3. The correct historical parallel is either . . .
. . . the Goldwater movement in 1964 or the Brownshirts in Germany 1935.

She believes Obama is not an American, that glen beck is an authority, and that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction! she was definitely a brainwashed groupie of talk radio and born in England!
what a laugh, the more I see of these people the more I see propaganda works well in America!

10. I thought you were talking about Sarah Palin at first!
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 08:39 AM by h9socialist
It doesn't surprise me, though. The greatest danger coming from the right-wing is unmitigated stupidity on the part of its adherents. These are not "freedom fighters" -- they are fascists! Mussolini and Hitler both came to power because of a right wing populism that played on the fears of the ignorant. Sarah Palin is a puppet made to smooth the image of neo-fascism. Her biggest backer originally was William Kristol. His family came from the hard-core left -- and later became the right-wing Shactmanites. Their venom has always been directed towards left-liberals and democratic socialists. They simply brought their Stalinist organizational ideas over to the right-wing. As Stalinists they hated FDR, as neocons they hate Obama. But they are still power hungry extremists who do not care who they make suffer. They represent the hope of a 21st Century fascist revival. Anything that fights them is a stand for freedom, justice and humanity!

4. Let's see
the Rethugs are trying to get tea party voters to the polls for them, and we're calling everybody who hangs with them a racist and/or a violent thug. I guess we'll see how that works out in the next couple of elections.

There is an understandable anxiety out there over the economy, deficits, the continuation of the wars, and possible inflation fears. Herding those people into the arms of the enemy by calling them names is never a good political strategy, in my opinion.

12. If the shoe fits... We should just let them get away with this abominable
behavior? Give them an inch... what would be next? Would firing shots during one of their teabagger parties be acceptable?

16. Herding? They never left. Ralph Reed, Dick Armey, Newt Gingrich?
They're the UNDEAD just making brand new inroads again with the old but beloved RW ideological exrement.

Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 08:47 AM by chill_wind
Nothing new about them under the sun. OR which party has always owned and cultivated them.

They're just louder, more brazen and more extreme in their anger, having finally been tossed out by an election that couldn't be stolen.

14. They have to have the "tea-baggers"...
They can't win without them. That is why they are sucking up to them, no matter what they say or do.
