New RW Meme Says An Email Exists Proving That MA Ds Asked Maddow To Run Against Brown

It may be the first cyber-publicity stunt of the 2012 Senate race, but the way state Democratic Party Chairman John Walsh tells it, it was just a Twitter malfunction.

The buzz, intentional or not, is all about a two-line Twitter message to an unnamed Democratic Senate prospect that Walsh says he posted by accident Friday. Some cynics think the gaffe that now has its own Twitter page, “#walshgate,” happened by accident on purpose.

“Some are talking about you running vs Scott Brown in ’12. I’m Chair of MA Dem Party,” reads Walsh’s “tweet,” which goes on to list his e-mail and cell phone as contact information for the unnamed candidate-in-waiting.

Walsh appeared to catch the snafu hours later, explaining in another tweet: “Oops. You caught me doing my job.”

Walsh told the Herald he meant to send a direct message to another user who is being urged to run against Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) in 2012.

“It was unquestionably a technical goof on my part,” Walsh told the Herald. “You know, live and learn.”
