Didn't Reid promise there would be an up or down vote on it? There was at least one other congress person attempting to introduce it as well. What happened?

1. Bait and Switch? Not Grayson's intentions but you know what they say about "good intentions?"
:(

2. I don't think Grayson would have anything to do with a b&s
But doesn't it have to clear the house first?

4. No, but Grayson should have known that his legislation was going nowhere ...

Would it not have been BETTER if our Progressive Democrats in the house "stood united" in their ORIGINAL pledge to not vote for a bill that did not contain for a robust public option?

I'm ashamed that they folded like cheap suits over some "pipe dream" that Grayson would have came to the rescue with passage of a Public Option that would later pass via reconciliation.

If the progressives within the house don't take the HARD STANDS, they are no better for our party than the Corporate Democrats of The Third Way. They have THE NUMBERS ... it's beyond time to show some spine.

6. totally agree with you.
I honestly don't think we're going to see any spine until the voters start voting some of these career criminals out of office. on BOTH sides.

THEN we'll see people standing their ground, rather than standing in line for the swag.

don't fret--we have many months of hard fighting to go before the Health Care situation is repaired.
Al will help. Send him some scratch, if you can.

5. Still going forward,
but nothing will happen until after the recess is over. That would be my guess.

7. It was a strange piece of legislation.
It didn't put a PO in the exchange, it allowed you to pay the full unsubsidized premium for Medicare coverage. No one who would benefit could possibly afford it, it would look more like a COBRA payment than anything else.

It would make more sense to go to the exchange and choose a subsidized plan.

8. I thought Medicare was cheap. A couple hundred a month or something. No claim
denials.

9. Current Medicare participants are heavily subsidized.
They don't pay the full cost in their premium. For most, Part A is provided without cost, and Part B runs about $100/month.

If one were able to purchase unsubsidized Medicare coverage it would very expensive and unaffordable to most, especially since subsidized plans will be available in the exchange.
