Does Obama really think that his new "drill, baby, drill" stance will win over that demographic? |
|
I'm willing to bet that it doesn't. Yet again, Obama tries to appease people that simply will not be appeased by ANYTHING he does. And he should not be playing politics with our environment, so shame on him.

2. That demographic includes a lot of Dems from oil producing states. This isn't an issue where |
|
there is a clear split between Dems and Republicans.
To get a comprehensive energy bill through Congress it will be necessary to include some provisions dealing with oil, nukes and coal.

13. Goddess help us if we don't return manufacturing to this country. |

If we allow the components for the nuke plants to be built in China, which has not shown my family that it can create a decent, leak proof garden hose, I have no belief in a "safe" nuclear industry, despite Obama's assurances of "safe nukes".

Some say he is doing this to prepare the country for his cap n tax reform. I think he is doing the right thing. We need fossil until something better is devised to replace it. We don't have anything at the moment that will drive an 18 wheeler or a diesel train. Need something to fill the gap.

But it will shut down a talking point nicely. The GOP cannot be won over; they are dead set against agreeing with him on anything. He's taking torches away from the angry mob.

Are coming to fruition... he's not just jumping in, but actually taking time to think things out... this is consistent across the board. How much of the "everything else" has turned out ok?

|
the teachers are finding the Ed programs just swell. Yeah we were all alarmists! And as the states repeal choice, being emboldened by federal anti-choice verbiage we should be celebrating! Coming to fruition? Really? When were we promised drilling? Oh thats right, like the mandates, Candidate Obama campaigned against drilling. But we aren't supposed to notice that.

8. Only the ones whose tourism income will get crapped up by oil slicks... |
|
...or whose beachfront properties will be devalued by views oil rigs. And, these are the people who have been screaming "drill, baby, drill" the loudest. The only way to get people like that to understand is to show them how their own ideas will threaten their pocketbooks. Considering how expensive beachfront property is, those are some damn big pocketbooks.

he hopes to moderate the damage in the November election if gas prices skyrocket. Would you put it past Republican speculators to try to artificially increase oil prices in time for the election?
