30. Yeah, I'm sure they will give a rat's ass for the opinions of
people out of their districts.

They represent such liberal districts in Georgia, Oklahoma and Mississippi and Utah I'm sure they'll be voted out in the next primary. :sarcasm:

27. He is still calling himself a Dem.
He is also still calling himself a Senator. :eyes: This vote was in the House. So it can't be him. There are apparently 7 Dem* congresscritters who are nearly as bad. :puke:

7. I'll go out on a limb and bet one of them was my congressman
Gene Taylor (D), Mississippi. I hope not but thats the way Gene is. One day I love him, the next day I hate him, BUT and this is an incredibly large but, he is Jane Fonda compared to the scum Mississippi republicans have run against him the past few elections.

 Party labels don't seem to be all that reliable. For those who decry "litmus tests," it seems the "D" label isn't one either.

Only when it's the republics.

When will the left side of the aisle get it together to build consensus?!

15. "Present" is every bit as negative as a "Nay" vote on this override.
The required 2/3 is of those "present and voting" - and voting "present" raises the bar.

20. If 430 are present and voting (of 435) then it's 287 votes. (If 429, it's 286.)
Edited on Wed May-02-07 01:43 PM by TahitiNut
It depends on how many are ACTUALLY present and voting ... which is almost always less than the maximum membership of 435 seats.
